Most people I speak to are spending a fair amount of time in zoom meetings, but working from home can lead to us getting a bit lazy with our image & style.
Getting dressed & making some effort with our clothes is really important at the moment, as it keeps you focused and will improve your mindset too!
Here are some simple tips on what to do / what not to do online...
- I advise my clients to wear bolder or more interesting colour combinations as it will create the most impact – you will ‘stand out’. How often are you on zoom and you look at all the dull colours on screen, but that person that wears colour will always stand out.
- stripes can create a wavy blurred image so are best avoided
- Having a good selection of scarves and jewellery can be great for adding interest and mean you can change up your outfit easily and without spending any money.
- ensure that you are looking directly into the camera – other angles can be less than flattering! No one wants to spend half an hour looking up your nose!
- Try to always look engaged and stay focused on the speaker. There is nothing worse than someone fiddling or looking away from the camera. This can be really distracting for others in the meeting too, so always give the courtesy and respect that you would give to someone in a 121 meeting as its no different for the online world too.
