The Top Three Issues in Big Data Analytics

Machine learning is a computer science field that helps us to automate certain activities. It also allows machines to learn from the data without any help in decision making and with only nominal interference from humanity. 

What is Big Data?

Big data, as the name implies simply means too much information and analytics means that we analyze large amounts of data and filter information from it. People can't effectively or efficiently do that kind of analysis withing a given time span so machine learning for big data analytics is a necessity. We are living in the age of big data. No set of data is too big for your company to process--or need to process.

What that tells us is that big data can mean big problems for the average company. Here are the top three issues that you can see with Big data as a big problem for the CIO to resolve:

 Garbage in means Garbage out--. Just having a lot of data doesn't make it good data. If the company doesn't have a very good idea of what they are trying to accomplish then having a lot of dta means that you're going to be processing a lot but may not have the answers you're hoping for. JUst because you are processing the data that you've got doesn't mean that it's good data or that you're going to get the answers you require. It doesn't quite work like that. Know what you want well prior to beginning the processing so that you get the answers you need from the data that you input.

Organizing well matters. Where is all of the data that you want to use. In many cases. it is spread all over the kingdom in multiple databases and you're going to have to sort that out.  What that means to you is that the big data project will be looking for a ton of different data in myriad different places before you can even begin the main analysis. Before you get the team together to get it done make sure that you take the time to gather all of the data into a single database so that you can focus the energy on what really counts--the analysis.

The last and probably most important issue that you're going to see is that you simple do not have the right people for the job at hand. Turns out, performing the kind of analytics that most companies need is hard work and requires a real skill set that many people do not have. There are not a lot of these people out there currently and you need to find them well prior to beginning the big data project. Now is the time to identify and to hire the people that you need to get the job done. If you have people in mind, have them get additional training or find someone who can help you to identify the proper big data personnel and get them on board well prior to needing them.
