I want to conclude this series of articles with a list companies, which are developing more unusual, but potentially very impactful products. They one of my favorite field: biology, but expand to robotics and Facades.
1. Ssc Hamburg (link)
I am very excited about this company, as they are bringing photobioreactors to the construction world. Photobioreactor is a closed environment, which enhances the growth of algae. The photo- part of the name indicates that it is usually a glass tube. This Hamburg-based company is experimenting with glass facades, filled with algae. This way are buildings transformed into living and breathing organisms. There are many possible applications and uses of this technology, from sequestrating the CO2 from the atmosphere, air purification, biomass production, to just down to the aesthetic pleasure.
2. Exoskeletons (link)
Maybe the best way to optimize the construction sites is to improve the humans. Exoskeletons help people to avoid injuries and help them to make the heavy duty tasks easier. In the video below is a video with the demonstration of the use of one of their products.
3. Elegant embelishments (link)
What if the facadees could eat smog? This Startup from Berlin is developing materials, which could make our cities less polluted. The technology is very promising, as they are working on the form and on the technology hand in hand. Check the video below.
