Is this Top Ten Right for You?

Is this Top Ten Right for You?

What if you could revamp everything you say, share, message and market with a simple list of ten ideas - would you do it?

Yes, you would.

Here you go...

1. Make it personal. Which email would you open: “March newsletter” or “You are not alone”?

2. Be grateful. More than saying ‘thank you’ – being grateful is a way of showing vulnerability, trust and appreciation… and explain why you’re thanking them.

3. More is not too much. Most don’t see everything you write, post, or send, so there’s really no such thing as too much when it comes to communicating.

4. Scanning for the win. We all do it – we scan emails, newsletters, and posts, but we don’t always read every single word. Use BOLD, underlining and italics and readers will start reading what you write.

5. Caption this. Photos with captions are the most memorable part of newsletters and emails according to everyone asked what they remember about newsletters and emails.

6. Be their guide. Show them how they are part of all the good that’s happening – be their guide (because you’re the expert and they need your help).

7. You’re not Wikipedia. If we’re writing things they can find on Wikipedia, why do they need us? Share stories that show what being there looks like.

8. Tell the truth. You don’t need to be creating hypothetical stories (they can get that anywhere) – they need you to be transparent and truthful.

9. Stats need soul. Numbers without emotional and human stories are soulless, so if you must share a metric, make it more than just another number.

10. You are not the you that matters. Sometimes it’s as simple as pronouns – pay attention to I/me/we/us/our and switch to you/yours/you’re as you write. The you that matters isn’t you if you want to attract attention!
