Top Ten Reasons Why People are Viewing Pittsburgh as a Destination City!!

When I was getting ready to graduate from IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) 20 years ago, my friends and I couldn’t wait to get out of Western Pennsylvania.?Many friends relocated to the DMV area (DC/Maryland/Virginia).?Some went further south to North Carolina.?Others went East to Harrisburg and Philadelphia.?Nowadays, we are seeing young people excited to stay in the area and making a move to our area.?Here’s my personal top ten reasons why:

1)???Job Market in Western/Central Pennsylvania is very healthy.?Pittsburgh recently was ranked 2nd in the US for available jobs according to Glassdoor.com.?Their study focused on three factors:?hiring opportunity, cost of living, and job satisfaction.

2)???Things to Do – summer festivals, great music scene, our Zoo/Aquarium, biking, hiking, kayaking, Kennywood, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Phipp’s Conservatory/Botanical Gardens, and Point State Park.?Explore the 38.6 kilometer Three Rivers Heritage Trail System that connects Pittsburgh to Washington DC.

3)???Food Scene – BBC GOOD FOOD named Pittsburgh a top 10 Destination for Foodies.?Some of our regional favorites are Primanti Brothres where your sandwich is stuffed with fries, pierogies (which I could eat every day of the week), and our Oakmont Bakery for your sweet tooth.

4)???Local Breweries – 40 craft breweries including my personal favorite – Levity Brewing in Indiana, PA.

5)???Art - ?Andy Warhol Museum is a MUST SEE, the Carnegie Museum of Art as well as a 14 block cultural district.

6)???Sports – Heinz field for football, home of the Steelers and their 6 Super Bowls, PNC Park for the Pirates (5 time champions), and PPG Arena for our beloved 5-time champion Penguins. Sportsdestination.com ranked Pittsburgh as one of their top cool cities to check out.

7)???Education – 29 world class colleges and universities.?Pitt, Penn State, Carlow, Chatham, Washington & Jefferson, Point Park, and Indiana University of Pa to name a few.

8)???Best skyline/view in the world (in my opinion, also though, voted by USA Today) from Mount Washington.?Take a ride up our Duquesne Incline to check it out.

9)???History – Heinz History Center, Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum.

10) It’s a great place to raise a family!?Great health care, affordable homes.?Livability ranked the Steel City as the most reasonably priced city for a family that earns a local median income.

Pittsburgh is no longer filled with soot and steel mills.?The city has been transforming from Blue Collar to New Collar.?In today’s Pittsburgh, young people are working in cubicles or virtual.?Many of our new jobs are in manufacturing, but also in health care and tech which are both booming.

If you are looking for an area to start or grow your business, check out Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas!

I love the Burgh. Great place to visit. The only flaw in your post is failing to give due to Noble Stein! Lol. Doesn't have the food but their beer list is just as good. mho.
