Top Ten Most Advanced Countries in Robotics
In this piece I’ll be going through the current Top Ten Most Advanced Countries in Robotics based on Robot Density in the Workforce. It’s no secret that Robotics is the future of Manufacturing and whilst a world where Robots are roaming the streets may seem way ahead, Robots are certainly roaming the manufacturing plants as we speak.
?
There seems to be a major concern of Robots taking jobs from people, but nobody is talking about how many jobs Robots in the workplace can create. The conversations I’ve had with hundreds of Executives in Robotics companies make the picture clear. Both Governments and Companies (such as Rockwell Automation, Nvidia, and Cognex) are running programs to upskill people who have been replaced by Robotics to maintain, configure, and supervise the machines with the aim of keeping people in the workplace.
?
For me this is a great step for the blue-collar workers in industrial plants as not only do they keep their employment, but they’re also being upskilled into a very niche sector which can open up new opportunities and essentially a better quality of life.
?
Taking that into account I see Robot Density in the Workplace as a major factor towards how advanced the country is within Robotics and how advanced their society as a whole is likely to be going forward.
?
10 – United States of America
285 Robots per 10,000 Employees
USA with its huge population is making great strides in the Robotics space, considered as the most advanced Western country by some way rivalled by the likes of Switzerland and Sweden but taking the population into account and the obvious achievements of Tesla & SpaceX there’s no question the US is paving the way for Western countries to embrace Robots in the workplace.
?
9 – Taiwan
292 Robots per 10,000 Employees
Arguably the most impressive country in this list, with a population around 24 million this island nation has made a huge impact in Robotics due to it’s chip-industry infrastructure. Taiwan is home to some huge Semiconductors and ASE Technology along with revolutionary start ups Techman Robot and iDrink.
?
8 – Switzerland
296 Robots per 10,000 Employees
I visited Switzerland’s capital last year and although I didn’t see any Robots, it was stunning, and I’d definitely recommend. Anyway, Switzerland is home to ABB which on it’s own makes them a huge player in the Robotics scene, but coupled with the fact Universities and Research institutes are actively involved in Robotics R&D they deservedly sit in 8th spot.
?
7th – Hong Kong
333 Robots per 10,000 Employees
Hong Kong is well known for its advancements in manufacturing and research. They currently have over 250,000 robots in the workforce and are home to some of the biggest players in the game ABBYY, Cornerstone, and Korah.

6th – Sweden
343 Robots per 10,000 Employees
No surprise to see Sweden in the top 6, they have well established University programs with KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Chalmers University teaming up with public sector to automate manufacturing processes. They were notably in the headlines for “Eve”; A Robot that assists Scientists with research processes.
?
5TH – China
392 Robots per 10,000 Employees
China is the biggest consumer of the Asian Robotics market. China is navigating the challenges of an ageing population and their Robots are a huge weapon in their arsenal. They are a great example of a country upskilling people who have been replaced by Robots with Robot Engineering Technicians and Energy Conservation jobs been taken up by the same people who used to work in the manufacturing plants.
?
4th – Japan
397 Robots per 10,000 Employees
Japan has had a fall from grace from being undisputed most advanced in 2021 to 4th spot in 2023/24. They will always be a powerhouse of Robotics due to their housing of Fanuc and Toyota. It wouldn’t surprise me if Japan moved back up the list throughout the decade.
?
3rd – Germany
415 Robots per 10,000 Employees
As the powerhouse of European manufacturing it’s no surprise that Germany are so high up on the list. From a relatively poor Robotics infrastructure pre 2021 they have made massive steps due to their education system and level of automation. Their neighbours in the Netherlands are also taking Robotics in their stride and it could turn into a Robotics Cold War over the course of the next decade
?
2nd – Singapore
730 Robots per 10,000 Employees
Another Island on the list, and what an incredible level of Robotic capacity. They have always been a big player in the game and with an extra 130 Robots since 2021 shows Singapore has no intention of taking it easy. In Singapore it’s NOT uncommon to find Robots on the streets in the shape of autonomous taxi’s and even Police Officers. Fascinating to see how many other countries start embracing that approach.
?
1st – South Korea
1,012 Robots per 10,000 Employees
There you have it, South Korea comes in at number 1 with an outstanding 10% of the workforce being made up of Robots. It definitely helps having LG and Samsung, but even still they are a great example of Robotic Advancement having Robots in restaurants and in logistics firms. Born out of necessity with their severe worker shortage, they are now in a great position to build a society around Robots.
?
Some really interesting countries on the list and the obvious powerhouses, I’m not sure what will happen over the next few years, but I am sure that if you’re hiring in the robotics space you need to give me a call on (929) 379-9842 or reach out at [email protected] or you’ll be missing out on the best Robotics Professionals.
