This week was a huge milestone for me because I hit my 34th podcast interview and I had the privilege of interviewing one of our greatest sales podcasters in the world.?
These are the top ten things I learned from my conversation with Scott.
- Fulfill a need- Scott was curious about speaking with the top reps of companies and saw that there weren't enough quality long-form sales podcasts out there who interviewed only the top 1% so he created his own podcast to scratch his own itch.?
- You have no choice but to improve when you surround yourself with the best.?That's why he created the Sales Success Summit because he knew that like-minded people would want to get together. Those who are willing to pay out of their own pockets money to travel to a different state to get together with other sales professionals who are serious about improvement and learning from others.?
- Diversity in sales and ideas- Getting together all of these different opinions and minds you learn so much and get to exchange ideas to help each other out. There was such a variety of thought leadership ranging from every professional in a sales person's lifecycle at the conference.??
- Create a Wow experience and you will create a community that will last a lifetime.
- Adopt a beginner's mindset- that's what separates the best from everyone else. The best of best know that they have so much more to learn.?
- We all have imposter syndrome at some point in life but all have so much to share. Don't be afraid to step up and own your own greatness every once in a while. We all started somewhere.
- Always be curious and?Invest in your well being- Not only is he a full-time quota-carrying sales professional but he is also a triathlete.?
- Create the community and the business will follow if you are bringing people together.?
- Have an amazing product first before instead of coming up with ideas. Anyone can come up with an idea but building the following is the hard part.
- Don't be afraid to put yourself out there.?I was so afraid of looking bad but then I realize everyone makes mistakes. Its when I am uncomfortable and every podcast episode I am still uncomfortable because when you relisten to yourself on a podcast, its always nerve-wracking but that's when you grow and have more awareness around what you actually sound like. Having mentors like Scott helps push you and holds you accountable for what you say you are going to do.?

These were my top ten favorite episodes in order of when I first listened to it back in 2016.
- With Andrea- I loved how she owned Landmark and shared how Landmark personally created so much for her around the community. Personally, it reminded me how valuable giving back to the world is through the Self Expression Leadership Program. Landmark was one of the most influential programs I've done in my life.
- With Sarah- I enjoyed how she spoke her mind about all of the things she is passionate about and the amount of research and creativity she has leveraging Sales Navigator reminds me of the times I was able to leverage to win deals to create value for both parties.?
- With Brandon- the amount of value and the quality of relationships he has built is inspiring. It really goes to show you what's possible through self-development and dedicating yourself to the craft of Sales and Relationship Building.
- With Liz and all of the cool things, she's accelerated in. It really pushes you to strive harder and be the best at everything. Give your 100% and have no excuses.?
- Trong and I have been friends since I've learned to all of his episodes. He is one of the most polished and well-spoken/hilarious people I know. He can equally inspire you and have you falling off your seat with that charisma that we all dream of. There are not too many Vietnamese leaders in the business world out there but he inspires thousands of Asian Sales professionals with his awards, accomplishments, and more importantly his generosity.?
- Bill is another inspiring Asian business leader who strives for excellence. I remember listening to his episode and made me think what legacy do I want to leave for the world? Since then, I would like to say I am making him proud. It's not easy being typically the only Asian in sales at most companies I've worked for and how imposter syndrome consumed my life.?
- George is so well-spoken and it's so fascinating hearing him speak about being an intentional individual contributor and the real impact that has vs being a manager.?
- Jacqueline's conversation about hiring an executive coach definitely resonated with me hiring coaches have been one of the best decisions I've made in my life.?
- Dejuan's conversations about being of service and adding value to your customer is what has made him and everyone else around him successful. The value that a business consultant has on truly transforming organizations and also by helping your partners get promoted along the way by solving business problems.
- Debe is a brilliant, thoughtful leader breaking the barrier and empowering women along with her. She's inspirational and I can't wait to see what she continues to create.?
