Top Talent Remuneration: Architecture
As part of our series on local salaries in our key specialisations, we are focusing this week on the design and architectural sector. This industry has experienced something of a resurgence over the past 12 months as new construction projects are coming online.
It is important to note that these are purely my points of view based on discussions with clients and candidates. There is no science to it, but we do have a reasonable handle on what you need to pay to secure a top candidate.
I have broken it down into different roles and then with comments around slightly different sectors, industries and locations.
A few further comments on the above:
- Vehicles are not generally a part of an Architect’s package
- This is focused on the Wellington commercial market, however, add $10K-$20K for Auckland.
- Each case is different and this is only a guide
- Job titles can be confusing between companies, generally, the pay is related to project value and skill level
- Candidates are in short supply, this coupled with a requirement by many firms for candidates to hold a MSc in Architecture means that people graduated with a BSc in Architecture are unemployable as Architectural Graduates.
Remember, these figures are a guide! They may not be 100% correct and may be skewed towards what the top candidates want as that is who we are talking to.
We would love to hear your thoughts as either an employee or employer and if this stacks up in your experience!
