We can’t believe it’s already been over a week since the IAPP’s Global Privacy Summit! Here are some of our top takeaways from #GPS22:
- Companies shouldn’t just think about complying with laws to only avoid getting fined, according to the UK ICO. They should think about how it can add value and build trust by respecting everyone’s fundamental privacy rights.?
- At the Getting Teen Privacy Right panel, SVP of Privacy Initiatives at?BBB National Programs Dona Fraser discussed the importance of teaching kids good digital citizenship. She said they should be taught online concerns early, when they learn about “stranger danger”. We agree!
- We learned a lot at the Colorado Attorney General’s session! The Colorado AG’s office plans to prioritize enforcement against willfully negligent companies. It’s important to keep good documentation and review your privacy practices regularly.
- Technology platform changes (i.e., Apple’s ATT framework, Chrome cookie deprecation) are transforming the market more than any privacy regulation, according to the Regulation of Online and Mobile Tracking panel. There's a big shift from 3rd-party to 1st-party tracking.
