Opal Sol, sister resort to Opal Sands on Clearwater Beach, sets opening date

A luxury beachfront resort on Clearwater Beach will open on Valentine’s Day.

Opal Sol will feature 248 rooms, three pools, several restaurants, a spa and 57,194 square feet of event space. The resort is located across the street from sister resort Opal Sands, which opened in 2016. The two properties are connected via skyway bridge.

Macy's to close WestShore Plaza store

The Macy's Inc. department store at WestShore Plaza in Tampa is one of dozens across the country that will close in 2025 — potentially moving plans to redevelop the enclosed shopping mall a step closer to reality.

“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go-forward stores, where customers are already responding positively to better product offerings and elevated service,” Tony Spring , Macy's chairman and CEO, said in a statement.

Breeze Airways increases investment in Tampa Bay in 2024

Breeze Airways? has become a noteworthy method of travel for those coming in and out of Tampa Bay.

The airline announced that in 2024 it operated 5,250 flights out of Tampa International Airport (TPA) and provided service to 28 destinations. Out of TPA, Breeze flew approximately 550,000 guests.

Major Sarasota manufacturer replaces ousted CEO

Helios Technologies made interim President and CEO Sean Bagan’s job permanent after a monthslong executive search.

Bagan has held the position since July 2024 when former President and CEO Josef Matosevic was terminated after an investigation into his apparent relationship with an employee, which violated company policy.
