Just in: 1Eleven Flavor House to shutter downtown doors by end of month
1Eleven Flavor House, a Caribbean restaurant located at 111 Building at 111 W. First St., will close its doors on Jan. 31.
"It is with heartfelt gratitude that we thank you for your unwavering support and business over our four years as a thriving establishment in the downtown Dayton community," reads a post from the eatery on Facebook. "It has been an immense pleasure serving our flavorful dishes and colorful cocktails with love to our customers who became like family and friends over the years."
Launched by owner Demetrius Wright, the restaurant first opened in early 2021 in downtown Dayton.

Dayton airline to relocate HQ to North Carolina
PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines Group, will move its corporate headquarters from Dayton to Charlotte, N.C., resulting in the potential loss of hundreds of lost jobs.
PSA’s Charlotte headquarters is expected to open in early 2026 and will house about 400 PSA team members.
“We chose to relocate PSA’s headquarters to Charlotte for several important reasons, including that Charlotte is where most of our daily departures occur and almost all our training is based,” said Dion Flannery, president and CEO of PSA.

$7M community grocer, healthcare clinic proposed in regional 'food desert'
The city of Middletown seeks to redevelop a former school site into a 3-in-1 community grocer, healthcare clinic and community room. The facility, located at the former Vail Middle School at 1415 Girard Ave., will offer community members access to affordable, fresh food, healthcare and community events along with programming space.
"The community grocer, clinic and community room addresses the needs to access to healthy, fresh food in a neighborhood which is currently a food desert," said Luis Rodriguez, assistant director of community and economic development at the city of Middletown.

Oregon District grocery store in works, records suggest
A commercial building permit has recently been submitted to the city of Dayton for a new grocery store in the Oregon District. The store — titled Brown Street Marketplace — will reside at 104 Brown St.
Located in a multistory building at the corner of Brown and E. Sixth Street, the new marketplace sits approximately one block away from the Oregon District and is positioned within the residential homes of the neighborhood.
The owners, Joshua Goldman and Alexander Staiger, who both run other businesses within the Oregon District, plan to plot the marketplace on the 1,000-square-foot first floor of the facility. The grocery store will carry pantry staples and locally sourced produce, according to documents submitted to the city of Dayton.

Dayton accounting firm acquires Cincinnati firm
Alinea CPAs LLC recently announced its acquisition of Cincinnati west side firm Matthew P Roth and Co. The acquisition is part of Alinea’s strategic plan to strengthen its private company practice in the Cincinnati area.
The acquisition took place on Jan. 17. It added a new location for Alinea at 4218 Bridgetown Road in Cheviot and add eight employees.
This acquisition allows clients of both Alinea and Roth to benefit from the resources, staff and capabilities of both firms. Additionally, it gives both firms greater access to other outsourced financial services provided MLA Companies, a sister company of Alinea.
