The media is full of reports on how the trucking sector impacts the economy because it moves over 70% of all commodities in the US and is responsible for the shortage of goods on the shelves of supermarkets and big box stores. Unless the country pays more attention to the healthcare of this critical sector of the economy then expect inflation to go through the roof. A starting point is to provide truck drivers with a first class healthcare service. The nature of their job traversing interstates makes it very difficult for them to have access to healthcare when they need it. One company VK Digital Health (vkdigitalhealth.com) has an eloquent solution which is to move drivers healthcare facilities to Truckstops where they all have to visit at least once per day. The pictured solution is a customized 40ft shipping container with 5 Smart Medical Chair cubicles connected by satellite to one of several hospital based Medical Call Centers staffed by Nurse Practitioners and specialists in many disciplines who can use the multiple FDA approved vital signs instruments embedded in each chair to conduct a thorough tele-triage meaning real patient data even a 12 lead EKG; and all without a doctor present on site.

The estimated population of the US who are Obese is 74%.?Fortune 500 companies have an opportunity to influence this statistic by setting an example. Imagine if employees were given meaningful prizes such as vacation days for outstanding performance with the awards adjusted based on their BMI rating so that those who were not classified as obese would qualify for extra benefits. To encourage employees to reduce weight the awards could be calibrated on extra awards for those that showed month by month reduction in weight. VK Digital Health is the designer of the Smart Medical Chair that includes a built in weigh scales and height measure device. This ADA compliant chair could be located in a small private room at work places.?All an employee has to do is stand under a height measure pole and sit on chair to get an immediate BMI reading all in about 20 seconds. Scan the QR Code to see a video of the new Smart Medical Chair teletriage in a complete patient, NP session
