In recent months, the conversations around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) in the workplace have intensified. As we look to the future, HR professionals must remain focused on the ultimate goal: to establish long-term inclusive practices that make a difference by helping individuals, teams, and organizations thrive together.? True DEI in the workplace takes time and effort.
After growing more than three times its pre-pandemic size, the healthcare staffing sector experienced a decline in market size for the first time since 2010, contracting by 22% in 2023, driven by a 36% drop in the travel nurse segment and a 25% decrease in the per diem segment as volumes trended downwards and pay rates continued to push down.

More employers across the world have mandated their workforce to return onsite five days a week, according to the latest survey from JLL. Its biennial Future of Work survey revealed that 44% of employers across the world are now expecting staff to be fully on-site five days a week. This is much higher than the 34% of employers, or "office advocates," who had similar expectations back in 2022.

In addition, they provide a buffer, so each negotiating party has more time to present, be heard, and reach a compromise. Temporary workers have no stake in either side of strikes and are indeed “temporary.” Staffing agencies are not in the business of job replacement; they provide a short-term option. When the strike ends, the temporary workers leave, and union workers resume their jobs.
U.S.-based employers announced nearly 76,000 job cuts in August, marking a 193% increase from the nearly 26,000 cuts announced a month before, according to a Sept. 5 report from Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. Excluding the more than 115,000 job cuts announced in August 2020, last month represented the highest August total since 2009, when more than 76,000 layoffs were recorded.
