Being an account manager is like having your own business. The more you put in, the more you get out. Our potential is limitless, and I have experienced first-hand earning 4 back-to-back Presidents' Circle, Region Manager of the Year, and have taught thousands of salespeople just like you. So let's get you thinking like a business owner.
In this interview series called “Top Performers Spotlight,” I talk with sales representatives who have excelled in their careers and are recognized as the top performers in the medical industry. They share their successes, failures, and what contributes to their success. As a part of this series, I had the pleasure of interviewing Eninja Jackson.
Eninja Jackson, Account Specialist & Field Trainer with Evolus Aesthetics.
Eninja has over 9 years of medical sales experience and earned 2 Presidents Clubs. She has been with Evolus for just under 2 years.
?1. Tell us about your career journey and how you transitioned into the industry you work in now?
My journey in healthcare has truly been a labor of love. I started many years ago in the nursing sector, then transitioned into medical sales, and obtained my degree in Healthcare Management & Administration, to arrive at this place in my career now. I realized I have an affinity for the business side of healthcare and got good at assisting providers at making their practices run efficiently.

2.?????????What do you love about the industry you work in?
I love the ability to help providers realize their vision of growth for their practice while providing the tools and partnerships that enhance them. Furthermore, uncovering the WIIFM (what’s in it for them), and applying a tailored approach to achieve their practice goals.
3.?????????Tell me about the three most influential people in your life and how they impacted you?
The three most influential people in my life are my husband, my sister, and my grandmother, (Who passed last year), because they exude resilience.
Life has thrown some hard curve balls at our family both, personally and professionally but they remind me to keep going.
The many conversations around pivoting and remaining tenacious against all odds are a large part of why I am who I am.?
4.?????????What has led to your success?
The largest contributors to my success are my empathy and availability. I try to anticipate my aesthetic practice's needs and understand any barriers that exist. I remain confident in the “why me, then why the company, and why the product”.
5.?????????What’s your biggest failure—and what did you learn from that experience?
The largest failure in my career occurred when I led with emotion. I am a stereotypical LEO who puts my heart into everything I do. Emotions can lead to the inability to look at a business decision as purely that. A notable example is, I started crying (out of anger) once during a meeting with a previous director because I was passed over for a promotion due to a technicality. Albeit my experience and proven performance far outweighed the person they promoted, I at the time didn’t have a bachelor's degree, which later became a pre-requisite for the position. So, when the person that I trained and mentored was promoted over me, I was beside myself. Shortly thereafter, I took this failure as a learning opportunity, pursued my degree, and used the time to perfect my craft in my current role.
6.?????????What advice would you give someone who wants to earn Presidents Circle?
Be patient, be innovative, be confident in who you are and be resilient. It took me almost four years to earn my first President’s Club, and a year to earn the same award with this company. Each win was a battle earned. So, an important key to remember is to stand firm in what YOU bring to the table and think outside of the box, even when it seems like you are failing.

8.?????????What is your next big goal and how are you going to reward yourself when you achieve your goal?
My next big goal is to become a manager and lead a top-performing team within the next two years. Once this goal is achieved, I want to reward myself by re-investing these skills and money earned into my own business. There is a niche I have identified within the aesthetics world and would love to create a business around this need.
