Top Performers Being Pushed to the Brink
Here’s the predicament occurring more so than you would think…Top performing personnel who, despite their outstanding contributions, who consistently excel in their roles and produce results, and do so with great attitudes, discover themselves underappreciated by their leaders. Not only are awards, recognitions & bonuses being stripped away, but star players are being stretched to take on more, pushed to their limits and asked to do so with less assistance and support, by leaders who sometimes deliver this news with indifference or, worse, comments that somehow this is “fair” for the current state of the market or “standard” across similar industries. And what message is this type of practice sending to the entire team? Many feel it just may not be worth going the extra mile after all. As leaders, it is imperative to ask ourselves: is this the culture we wish to cultivate within our organizations?
If it feels too risky to Trust, Empower, Support, and Invest in your best who exactly do you think is going to right your sinking ship?
“The responsibility of a company is to serve the customer. The responsibility of leadership is to serve their people so that their people may better serve the customer. If leaders fail to serve their people first, both customer and company will suffer.”-Simon Sinek
