Top pellet quality with the KAHL Flat Die Pellet Mill

In the KAHL Flat Die Pellet Mill, the die lies horizontally in the machine. The rollers rotate on the roller track of the die. Anyone familiar with a rolling cylinder on a circular track will know that the cylinder rotates a little too fast on the inside for true rolling and a little too slowly on the outside. And with a Flat Die Pellet Mill, the roller is the cylinder and the roller track on the die is the circular track.

Does this have a negative effect on the pellet quality, e.g. when pelletising wood? No, the Flat Die Pellet Mill system compacts the fibrous raw material excellently into high quality pellets with very high bulk densities and durability. And the pellet mill does this with a very output and is also remarkably energy-efficient. Many buyers of our customers' pellets also notice the very good pellet quality in direct comparison.

And our customers also notice that the KAHL Flat Die Pellet Mill can also process coarser wood particles without any loss of quality or performance. In Europe, for example, many of our customers pelletise wood into quality pellets for domestic use without a dry hammer mill.

In the Flat Die Pellet Mill, the rolling of the rollers on the roller track of the die creates a shearing effect that acts on the material in the gap between the rollers and die. The shear crushes these fibres and larger particles, which can then be pressed more easily into the holes of the die and compressed into pellets.

This can also be observed very well with many other fibrous materials besides wood, such as straw, grasses, husks and many other materials.

The result is simply very good pellets, high pellet mill output and low energy consumption.
