As of this month, crypto exchanges must seek a licence with the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) to sell and market to Hong Kong consumers. As the SFC starts to process licence applications, exchanges that already have a large presence in the city have a one-year window to continue operations while they prepare to comply with the new rules or exit the market.
“The significant compliance obligation has not deterred interest from crypto firms hoping to gain a foothold in Hong Kong,” said Joy Lam, a partner at law firm Baker McKenzie in Hong Kong. “We have been inundated with requests from existing and new market entrants who want to become licensed in Hong Kong.”
Hundreds of scientists, tech industry execs and public figures – including leaders of Google, Microsoft and ChatGPT – are sounding the alarm about artificial intelligence,?writing in a new public statement?that fast-evolving AI technology could create as high a risk of killing off humankind as nuclear war and COVID-19-like pandemics.
"Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war," said the one-sentence statement, which was released by?the Center for AI Safety, or CAIS, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization.
CAIS said it released the statement as a way of encouraging AI experts, journalists, policymakers and the public to talk more about urgent risks relating to artificial intelligence.
A former Google executive and an AI expert has a serious warning against artificial intelligence (AI), which has become the talk of the town following the rollout of generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Microsoft Bing Chat. During a podcast, Mo Gawdat, a former chief business officer at Google X, a division focused on special Google projects, said that AI is the biggest threat to humanity, and the scale could be bigger than climate change. Gawdat, like several tech experts and entrepreneurs, has urged governments to frame strong regulations for AI technologies.
In the Diary Of A CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett, Gawdat suggests we might see significant changes in the next two years if the developments at this pace continue. The former Google executives note that the entire planet might be affected if space remains unregulated. Gawdat also points out that AI tech companies should be heavily taxed to slow them do. He argues that rapid AI expansion will result in "mass job losses."

What was your journey like to get where you are?
Evgen Verzun has been working as an engineer, developing security systems for mission-critical projects in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East since 2004. Since 2018, he has launched several blockchain projects. Evgen is the author of several technological inventions, including the DyDAG blockchain. Unlike the global communal single-chain blockchain used in conventional cryptocurrency, the various trees in the DyDAG blockchains are “individual,” with each blockchain having personal or enterprise ownership through an identity-trust chain. Using private chains, banks or financial services companies are, for instance, able to track the credit status of each person privately and securely via hashes of each client. Since then, Evgen and his team have been helping blockchain and fintech projects secure their decentralized infrastructure. Currently, Evgen serves as the Founder and CEO of Kaizen.finance, the Token Lifecycle Management platform for blockchain projects.
In simpler phrases, what is your company exactly doing?
Kaizen Finance offers cross-chain tools and services to crypto and blockchain projects that include token generation, vesting schedule automation, bridges, staking, airdrops, and more, all on a no-code basis.
What about Metaverse are you most excited about in the future?
Building Metaverse as the next generation of the Internet, avoiding the mistakes of today’s internet—a web that was?designed?with good intentions but bad implementation.
Why should we be paying attention to the Metaverse?
