Being a manager is easy, but, being an effective manager takes hard work and effort. An effective manager leads, motivates, inspires and encourages everyone around him/her to strive for excellence. What does it take to be a highly effective manager is the question of the day-

  1. Have clarity of goals and vision. Strategically align your company goals with those of the team members, both personal and professional.
  2. Create and promote a culture of respect and harmony. Stand up against any form of disrespect.
  3. Keep your bias at bay. Treat everyone in your team equally without any form of discrimination.
  4. Include everyone in decision making. Leverage the diversity of thought and opinion in your team.
  5. Seek regular feedback. Understand what your team appreciates about you and explore avenues for improvement.
  6. Indulge in continuous learning, be humble about your knowledge and add something new to it every day.
  7. Empower your team to be independent. Have confidence that your team can deliver optimum output without your micromanagement
  8. Invest in your team. Ensure that your team is satisfied and happy, even out of work to ensure better commitment
  9. Be a mentor. Help your team members in exploring different paths to development and overcome challenges that block the way.
