LLOYDS Bank: Business Confidence Falls Back in June from Previous Month's High (June 28, 2024)

In its latest Business Barometer report, Lloyds Bank reveals a dip in UK business confidence, which slid 9 points to 41% in June after peaking the previous month. This decline brings confidence levels back in line with the consistent readings of Q1 2024. Although confidence in trading prospects and economic optimism has moderated, they remain significantly above the long-term average, indicating a persistent positive business sentiment. The report underscores diverse regional shifts, with notable growth in optimism in the North but declines in the South and East. Employment and wage growth expectations have also softened, yet still sit above pre-pandemic levels, hinting at a cautious yet hopeful business landscape as firms navigate the remainder of the year.
