Epicor Acquires Smart Software
Epicor, an industry-specific enterprise software provider, has acquired Smart Software, a cloud-based, AI-powered inventory planning and optimization (IP&O) application provider. Additionally, since Smart Software is an existing Epicor ISV partner, its solutions are already integrated with several of Epicor's ERP platforms. The acquisition will help Epicor accelerate the delivery of its ERP solutions, extend its functionality to help users stay informed, strengthen its inventory management processes, eliminate manual data entry tasks, improve customer satisfaction, optimize working capital,? and maximize customer lifetime value.
Freshworks Appoints a New CEO
Freshworks, an AI-boosted business software provider, has appointed Dennis Woodside as Chief Executive Officer & President. Woodside, who was previously serving as Freshworks' President, will succeed Girish Mathrubootham, founder of Freshworks, as CEO. Before joining Freshworks in 2022, Woodside served various leadership roles at companies like Dropbox, Google, and McKinsey & Co. Additionally,?Mathrubootham will be transitioning to the role of Executive Chairman and remain the chairman of Freshworks' Board of Directors, which Woodside is also a member of.
Gartner Releases its?2024 Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning Solutions
Analyst house Gartner, Inc. recently released the 2024 edition of its Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning Solutions, identifying twenty of the marketplace's most effective SCP vendors. The researchers behind the report—Pia Orup Lund, Tim Payne, Joe Graham, Caleb Thomson, and Jan Snoeckx—evaluated each listed vendor's strengths and weaknesses and ranked them on the signature "Magic Quadrant" graph.
IBM Expands AWS Partnership to Over 90 Countries
IBM has expanded its partnership with AWS Marketplace to make its software portfolio avaialble to 92 countries. The expansion beyond Denmark, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, where the software is currently available, will help make procurement easier for clients, streamline purchasing, and create new efficiencies while allowing them to use their AWS committed spend for IBM software purchases.
Island Secures $175M in Growth Funding; Company Valuation Doubles to $3 Billion
This week, Island, a leader in enterprise browsers, announced its $175 million Series D financing. The new funding round brings Island’s valuation to $3 billion, doubling the last valuation from less than a year ago. The round was led by new investor Coatue and existing investor Sequoia Capital, with additional funding from other existing investors. Island has raised $487 million in outside investment to date, including a strategic investment from Capital One Ventures, based on its unique value proposition and category momentum in the fast-growing enterprise browser market.
