England offers some amazing places to visit - ideal for friends, families, and couples for any time of year. Here is a list of some of our favorite picks. While London is a given, consider exploring other areas of this incredible country.
1. Yorkshire
Visitors consider Yorkshire as the mecca hotbed of gastronomy with more Michelin-starred restaurants than anywhere else in the country (besides London, of course!) A natural landscape of breathtaking beauty, Yorkshire has inspired many painters such as John Atkinson Grimshaw and David Hockney.
2. Cotswolds
A dreamy fairytale cloister of villages, Cotswolds is England’s “Hamptons” scene with wonderful museums, galleries, festivals, and restaurants nestled among stunning historic mansions. The area covers 800 square miles across five counties.
3. Devon
Gaze upon beautiful beaches with surf breaks and chance upon secret coves. Enjoy the great outdoors and the wonderful food such as lamb, venison, pheasant, pork and seafood. Ample the farmers’ markets which are filled with everything from cheese to ice cream.
4. Norfolk
Enjoy the quiet countryside with small villages. Easily you will encounter medieval churches, castle ruins, and magnificent estates. Great shopping can also be found here.
5. Suffolk
Visit the marshes and wetlands of the Broads, which is home to more than 400 species including dragonflies, snails, and butterflies. Suffolk offers a picturesque landscape with its pine forest and brilliant coastline which has incredible bird life. Between wild flowers and great ale, this is a great destination to visit.
6. Cornwall
Cornwall perhaps offers the best coastline, with its dunes and cliffs, its creeks, and medieval harbors. Trek through wildflowers, rock pools, and swim with seals. The area draws and inspires many painters with its skies, moors, and brilliant blue waters.
7. Bath
Think of Jane Austen, when visiting this lush green city. Visit the Roman Baths and the classic writer’s former residence. Enjoy galleries and museums and experience one of many foodie pubs now popping up.
