The victims are all in the public sector, indicating the significant need for more effective cybersecurity tactics in this industry. 1:?Dallas, Texas Police Department operations?were hampered by a ransomware attack, impacting the departments ability to respond to emergency calls. 911 Dispatchers were forced to write down instructions for the responding officers and all communications were moved to phone and radio networks.
2:?A Public Charter School in Asheville, North Carolina, was closed after a cyberattack took out the schools phone and internet service. Parents were informed late on a Tuesday afternoon that school would be cancelled the next day as they worked with North Carolina officials to resolve the issue and students will have to make up the day later in the year.
3:?The Supervisor of Elections in Florida?shared drive on their was illegally accessed by an unauthorized user. Thankfully the breach stopped there as no other systems were affected.
4:?Raleigh, North Carolina Housing Authority?computer systems shut down after a cyberattack locked employees out of their computers. Authorities are aware and no further information is available.
5:?Chattanooga State?released a statement acknowledging they were a victim of a cyber incident, however local law enforcement has requested that no further information be released.?
