Top Challenges That Executives Face

No alt text provided for this image

Most mid-career professionals believe that all their career challenges will end once they get that executive position. That's not entirely true!

Because when you actually get to that position, you will have additional challenges to overcome. It’s a fact.

I have been in touch with hundreds of top executives, and here are the top challenges that they faced and continue to face:

1. Revenue Generation: This is perhaps going to be the biggest challenge that you face after becoming an executive. It requires making consistent efforts to raise capital, bring new clients to the business, and generate valuable leads.

Solution: It’s a good idea to use your social media strategically to generate leads and revenue.

2. Time Restraints: As an executive, you will realize that there are just not enough hours in a day. You would need to find the time to do everything nonetheless.

Solution: Have a priority list to follow based on importance.

3. Building A Team: This is a challenge that will forever follow you. As an executive, you will be expected to manage a global team and create a balance between the well-being of employees and business growth.

Solution: There might be times when you have to seek an employee yourself, instead of the employee coming to you. Know that experience is not everything; you also need to consider their work ethic and values for it to work.

4. Right Pace: You might have a long list of things that you can finally do now that you are an executive. But you need to have the right pace to make these things happen, or else it will all be a big mess.

Solution: Don’t rush into things. You need to realize that the transition period might be tough on your employees too.

5. Growth and Strategy: While you might have just followed the company’s mission earlier, now you’d be required to expand your business in alignment with the mission.

Solution: You need to first have clarity about the goals yourself, and then you can pass it on to your team. Make sure that you and your entire team have a growth mindset.

6. Making Tough Decisions: When you are an executive, every decision that you make has tremendous power, and not everybody will agree to it.

Solution: Don’t be scared to make tough calls. Even if 80% of the people support your decision, you can stick to it.

Being healthy, getting better at communicating across, developing business acumen, persuasion skill are few of them I would like to highlight.
