We have seen many recruiters complaining about not getting relevant responses from job posts and applicants. But do they wonder where is the mistake?
As a recruiter, I have observed that we "Recruiters" can make mistakes too during the recruitment process. Therefore, I decided to write an article about it to help recruiters to rectify those common mistakes.
Here I am going to share the top 6 mistakes that some recruiters make while hiring. Let's check out those common mistakes.
1- Lack of Clarity in The Job Description:
A poorly written job description can result in unqualified candidates applying or even deter qualified candidates from applying. It's essential for the recruiter to work with the hiring manager to create a clear and concise job description.
Most of the time, I observe that whenever any recruiter posts about any job, they somehow skip the location, mode of job, shift timing, and salary details. So, some of the candidates without knowing these details apply for that opportunity.
2- Not Understanding The Needs of The Hiring Manager:
Being a technical recruiter, we make sure to coordinate with the technical team to understand what they are looking for in an ideal candidate. What skills, experience and domain candidate must have to get shortlisted.
If a recruiter doesn't have a clear understanding of what the hiring manager is looking for, they may not be able to find the right candidates. It's important for recruiters to have regular communication with the hiring manager to ensure they understand the role and its requirements.
3- Relying Too Heavily on Technology:?

Technology is helpful but depending upon technology completely can result in ineffective hiring who don't fit the algorithm. The way a human evaluates another human is better than any AI tool. AI lacks empathy and cannot be emotionally intelligent. Therefore, recruiter should not depend on tools for HR screening.
4- Failing to communicate with candidates:
Feedback is the right of any candidate. Either shortlisted or not, a recruiter should share feedback with them. So, they can improve themselves for the future interviews.
Lack of communication can leave candidates feeling frustrated and unappreciated, damaging the company's reputation. It's important for recruiters to maintain open lines of communication with candidates, even if they're not selected for the position.
5-Rushing the Process:
Recruitment is the most crucial factor for any organization to succeed. Rushing the recruitment process can result in hiring the wrong person for the job. Consequently, it can cost a lot for the company.
It's important for recruiters to take their time and make sure they're finding the right candidate.
6-Unconscious Bias:
Bias decision making can never bring good results. So, the recruiters must be aware of this unconscious bias if there is any and they must take steps to eliminate them.
No one is perfect as you might have heard "To err is human." So, better are those who learn from their mistakes and improvise them.
