Top 5 Tech Trends of 2022 and Beyond
The year 2021 has been full of surprises for us like it has been for most of you. The pandemic has also accelerated the digital transformation and technology adoption in many areas. Here are my thoughts about the leading technology trends of 2022 and beyond. But it is not just trends and developing technologies that are changing; a lot more has changed in these two years because of the advent of COVID-19, which has made people understand that their place in the contactless world of tomorrow will not be the same. We will be learning, deconstructing, and reinventing all the time, not because we want to, but because we must.?
It is not the same world we knew before the pandemic. Customers' needs and everyday routines have changed because of the global crisis's long-term nature. As a result, our expectations for the world in 2022 and beyond will shift.??
Let us look at the top five technological developments that will emerge in 2022 and beyond so that we may be ready for what is to come!?
?AI (Artificial Intelligence) Takeover??
Artificial intelligence has made its way into our daily lives, allowing organizations in various industries to use it to improve marketing prospects and streamline operations. The year 2022 is expected to follow its predecessors' footsteps and usher in a new era of artificial intelligence and automation. Organizations ranging from small to medium industries to enterprise businesses have verified that AI has been implemented in at least one function in their everyday operations, according to a survey performed by McKinsey in 2020.?
Artificial intelligence (AI) will become increasingly more prevalent as the Internet of Things (IoT) devices – transportation, household appliances, and more – as well as navigation, health care, and many other research fields – become more pervasive. From recognizing health issues based on data from smartwatches to revamping kitchen appliances, the possibilities are endless. AI is the present. Currently, millions of inventions are taking place in various home offices and garages, and let me tell you that they are almost certainly adding AI into their creations. Nothing shouts revolution like AI's involvement and advancement. AI is here and ubiquitous, as it was a decade ago.?
Sustainable Future??
At NRF 2022, IBM recently demonstrated its Sustainable solutions. Luq Niazi, IBM Consulting's Global Managing Partner, described how IBM strives to assist organizations in optimizing their processes to become more sustainable. IBM and McDonald's, Dell, Walmart, and Tesla focus their marketing efforts on purpose-driven customers. A forward-thinking, fast-growing sector concerned with sustainability, recycling, and the circular economy.?
They want retailers to show that their products are sourced, manufactured, distributed, and fulfilled sustainably. As a result, the biggest goal is to connect all that information across the value chain in consumer buying experiences.?
Many customers are willing to pay more for environmentally friendly technology—almost 70% more.?
Sustainability will gain a considerable proportion of the market share in 2022. Sustainable practices are supposed to lower expenses, provide tax rebates and concessions, boost brand awareness, contribute to the green economy, and even attract new customers and employees.?
Circular economy technology, blockchain for sustainability, green software engineering, and, in the future, metaverse and DNA data storage are some of the technologies to keep an eye on in this field.?
?Cyber Security and Resilience??
The World Economic Forum's Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2022 summarizes the key conclusions of 120 global cyber leaders on how to go from cybersecurity to cyber resilience. The cybersecurity landscape will continue to change in 2022. With the continuous shift to digital and cloud, we have seen a dramatic transformation in how consumers and companies complete activities over the last two years.?

According to the World Bank, annual total internet traffic will increase by 50% from 2020 to 2022, hitting 4.8 zettabytes. If 4.8 zettabytes were stored on DVDs, the pile would be high enough to circle the planet six times.?
The only way organizations can address these gaps in cyber resilience is by:?
- Incorporating cyber resilience into risk management strategies and business decisions will help enterprises close these gaps in cyber resilience.?
- Including cybersecurity executives in decision-making.?
- They are retaining Cybersecurity talent. Due to a lack of capabilities within their team, businesses find it challenging to respond to ransomware assaults.?
Furthermore, because ransomware attacks are becoming more common and sophisticated, boosting cyber security resilience will be a top priority for 2022 and beyond.?
Prioritizing Total Experience??
Customers' perceptions of your brand have always been vital, but those perceptions are even more critical in this era of significant digital transformation. Businesses must now concentrate on the overall customer and employee experience. It is crucial that the person selling your product/service is as happy as you want your consumer.?
It is a huge step forward in business ethics, and I'm sure a lot of employees are saying, "It's about time."?
Due to competition, consumers now have more options and expect more engaging and superior experiences. They want brands to communicate with people, personalize encounters, and integrate physical and virtual experiences. Consumers do not want to be treated as a means to a business goal; they want businesses to make a sincere effort.?
Employees are looking for similar things in their companies as well. Leaders must all be reimagined in working environments, employee happiness, diversity, equality, and, most importantly, collaboration. Expect to see a lot of much-needed improvements in how businesses deal with customers and employees starting this year.?
Leverage Data and Analytics??
As more digital enterprises and online sales channels emerge, and remote work becomes more common, a complex and diversified ecosystem of devices, apps, and data infrastructure appears. Data infrastructure might be on-premises, single cloud, multi-cloud, hybrid-cloud, or a combination of these. It can be dispersed across geographical boundaries with no one solution to connect it all.?
Organizations will establish a data fabric in 2022 to drive enterprise-wide data and analytics while automating various data integration, preparation, and exploration operations. Using logical, physical, or hybrid methodologies, data fabric combines data assets spread across diverse locations, formats, and latency. These data fabrics will reduce time-to-delivery and make it a popular Data Management approach in 2022 by allowing enterprises to choose their preferred path.?
While IT leaders are not fortune tellers, there is no way of knowing what 2022 will bring for various businesses. Nonetheless, like many other professionals, I am excited and hopeful about what the future holds. How each industry absorbs these new notions, and how our lives have been shaped around technology for the past 20 years.?
Here is looking on optimistically, masked up, and wishing success to all of us. May 2022 be the year we all benefit from the digital revolution.?

3 å¹´Great piece! I loved it. But I'm also surprised that AR/VR didn't make it to the list even tho Facebook is pushing it a lot lately. I'd love to hear your thoughts on AR/VR experiences and how they will or they won't make way to the daily lives of people.
