The annual Black Friday is predicted to receive bigger traction than ever as the cost-of-living crisis drives consumers to find a bargain and engage with Black Friday sales.

So, how can you make sure you don’t miss out on search traffic this year? Here are the top 5 tips...

?1. Start your plans early

Many consumers start researching the best deals online well ahead of Black Friday. Search volumes show a spike around September, so get the information up on your website well in advance.

2. Use the same page

Don’t put up a seasonal page and then take it down again in December! It takes time for Google to find and rank pages, so keep a /black-friday page live all year round, and just update the messaging on it.

3. Put your brand name everywhere

Many consumers start the search journey with a brand in mind, but not a product. For example, ‘[brand name] black Friday deals’ is a common keyword structure, so make sure your page titles and H1 tags have your brand name in.

4. Test different keywords

The search trends show people using ‘sale’, ‘deals’ and ‘offers’ interchangeably. It’s worth testing which works best for your category and audience.

5. Add a number for high CTR

Putting a number in your comms can increase clicks – ‘50% off’ drives a stronger CTR than ‘exclusive offers’ or ‘half price’.
