Let's discuss quickly a few reasons why your online/digital marketing is not serving your business as it should. It could in fact, be completely disastrous for your business.

Online marketing can be a messy game. There are however a defined set of reasons why your assets (website, sales pages, social media profiles) are just not working for your business in terms of generating leads, building reputation and getting you cold hard cashflow.


1) AUTOMATION

The first reason is that you haven't established a fully automated set of assets, from which to maximize your presence, lead generation or reputation. Systems like funnel sequences, email sequences and Brand Reputation Management platforms, or mini assets such as lead magnets can be used in a complimentary way to create an ecosystem of automated procedures that you don't have to touch once they're set up. Build a marketing list, automate sales procedures, take online bookings. The list goes on as to the benefits of automation, but one thing is for sure... You're probably not doing enough to systematize and automate your marketing. Too much time spent manually sending out emails, social posts, offers etc. takes time away from your days where you could be dominating your industry in other ways. It's bad for productivity and ultimately creates a disjointed marketing approach. 


2) VISIBILITY 

The truth is, you’re probably not as visible in your marketplace as you should/could/need to be. Can we agree on that? Competition is not the goal, DOMINATION is. So make sure what your competitors are doing well, you are doing tenfold, in ways and means that are not being done by those competitors. Don’t shy away from the limelight, embrace it… take it.

Your website probably blows too. Have you really, truly, attended to the User Experience, User Interface and Conversion strategy on your website to the point where you truly believe it generates leads for your business on autopilot? Go on… be honest with yourself. In the deepest, darkest parts of your discussion with yourself, when no one else is around, have you admitted that you haven’t paid enough attention to these core elements for success? Now, have you looked at your Brand, your aesthetic and ensured it’s completely consistent and speaks to your Brand message? Did you pay attention to your Conversion strategy on the website? Did you think of how to build the most friction-free method for your audience to engage with your site and your business? Did you consider the industry-specific apps and platforms available to you today to enhance your audience's experience? Do you regularly create content for your website that is designed to engage and draw action from your audience? Did you test your website regularly for mobile compatibility issues? Have you thought about how that alone would increase your presence, visibility and authority in your marketplace? No? Shame on you. Now go do it. Fast.


4) AUTHORITY

Authority governs almost everything in online marketing. From Google algorithms to your positioning in your industry, if you lack authority and strength of presence, you’re going to fail. Authority places you firmly at the top of the mountain. It ensures your competitors look up to you and that the prospective customers you need to fuel your business see a strong, trustworthy Brand to give their business to. How do you create authority? The good news is that if you attend to points 1-3 above you’re likely to also build a strong starting point for industry authority. The bad news is that, as with all things to do with your business, you cannot take your foot off the gas. You must be consistent, focused and prolific in your creation of authority. 


5) ANALYTICS

BORING? Yes, analytics are boring when you aren’t paying attention. Analytics are also absolutely essential to your success (and failure) online. When you learn to embrace the power of analytics and data as it pertains to your online marketing, you’re in for a trip, and your competition is in for some punishment. 

Look for important stats in your site's makeup such as User Flow, Bounce Rates, pages per session. Discover heat map tracking and even (sneakily but informatively) watch videos of how your visitors engage with your site in real time. Split test your pages, ads, images and lead magnets. Embrace the boring because it will guide your decisions and save you THOUSANDS in money and time you would otherwise have wasted.
