Top 5 Reads from 2018
We've all heard the common phrase "Leaders are readers!" right? As an avid lover of learning, this year I made a commitment to read a book a week. I didn't quite get to 52 books in 2018, but I got close. Of the 45+ books read, here are the top 5 that have had the most profound impact for me. When you finish reading the article, I'd love to hear what books have been the most profound for you this year.
- Multipliers by Liz Wiseman
This book was recommended to me by David Schullof, co-owner of search marketing agency 'Red Hot Penny'. Multipliers is an incredible book about
"how to amplify the intelligence and capabilities of people around you."
It doesn't matter where you are and who you are, this book is applicable and highly recommended for anybody who works with other people. It's so good, we got the entire J and C Education office team reading it!
2. Key Person of Influence by Daniel Priestley
This was recommended by my friend and artist Heshima Thompson.
Priestley shares his winning formula for getting customers to cue up to do business with you through becoming irreplaceable in your degree of influence .
"Many people think it's about decades of hard work, academic qualifications and a generous measure of good luck." says Priestley
He goes on to illustrate a simple yet highly effective method of becoming highly valuable within any field or industry using the 5 Ps - Pitch - Publish - Profile - Product - Partner.
This book is absolute Gold if you want to stand out and be listened to in your field of expertise.

3. Traction by Gino Wickman
Recommended to me by my peers at The Supper Club. Do you know your organisation can thrive and gain results far beyond what is currently being achieved? Gino Wickman gives excruciatingly clear, quality systems and structures that set the framework for success. If you're a business owner who hasn't read this yet. Don't leave 2019 without it!
4. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
Wow! I can't believe I just said that! Recommended to me by Author of Self-Made Bianca Miller-Cole this is a truly fascinating read. If your brain works anything like mine, you'd be sceptical at the title, the bright orange cover and the mere fact that 'everybody's been talking about it'. Thanks to Bianca though, I have read the best non-business book I've ever read in my life this year. What's it about? Standing at the edge of the cliff of life and fearlessly diving into a sea of greatness. That's my summation anyway; What's yours? Do let me know once you've read it!

5. Oversubscribed by Daniel Priestley
Another book recommended by my great friend and peer mentor Heshima.
How would it feel to turn away business because you have too many customers wanting to buy?
asks Priestley. Learn the steps to success with this awe inspiring read ans transform your organisations success.

More Amazing Reads!
Death By Meeting by Patrick Lencioni - Like Daniel Priestley, here's another author that gets my recommendation for almost every book he's written. I read this in 2017 hence it's not in the top 5 here but it's a beautifully written parable that demonstrates how to run meetings more successfully.
Radical Candor by Kim Scott - Ex leader at Google and YouTube explains "how to be a kickass boss without losing your humanity!" Powerful right?
Self-Made - The definitive guide to business start up success - By Bianca Miller-Cole and Byron Cole - This book is a must read for anyone looking to start a business or become self-employed in the new era of 2019 and beyond!
All the best for 2019! All the love and Happy 2019!

5 年Hi Jazz, thanks for the recommendations. Two I'd add from my reading this year: Smart Leaders, Smarter Teams - Roger Schwartz Drive - Daniel Pink Both have helped my shift my paradigm around what effective leadership looks like and how we can get better results in any people-based business.
