These are the Top 5 Podcasts I Listen to Each Week

Over time, my interests in podcasts have changed based on different factors. I used to listen for entertainment, but now, podcasts are a way for me to learn about freelancing, freelance writing, small business topics, money management, productivity, and to brush up on interviewing techniques.

As I searched through Spotify to compile a list of my current favorites, I realized that women host all five of these!?

5 Women in Business Podcasts Freelancers Should Listen to in 2022

In no particular order, here are five podcasts that currently pique my interest. These women make me feel like I’d enjoy sitting down with them over a cup of coffee (or glass of vino!).?

The Freelance Friday Podcast

Podcast and YouTube host Latasha James has a background in marketing, social media, course creation, and works with a lot of clients. On her website, she refers to the podcast as “our weekly freelance coworking hour.”

Here are two of my favorite things about her podcast:

  • Every Friday I can expect a new episode.
  • She walks listeners through how she does things like “how to create content strategy for any brand.”?

The Writers’ Co-Op Podcast

This podcast is co-hosted by freelance writers and journalists Jenni Gritters and Wudan Yan.?

Two things I enjoy about this podcast include:

  • Gritters discusses freelance and coaching businesses while being a mom to a toddler (and soon another baby). Since I have children around the same age, I can relate to this. I appreciate knowing that I’m not alone in time management and energy struggles as a mom!?
  • I enjoy hearing about both their experiences as journalists now frequently writing for brand clients, as well as how to negotiate higher freelance rates, and insights into their businesses.

Freelance Writing Coach Podcast

This 20-minute podcast is hosted by Emma Siemasko and Kaleigh Moore, both veteran freelancers who have strong social media presences and enjoy doling out wisdom on freelance topics based on decades of experience.?

My favorite things about this podcast include:

  • ?Their podcasts resonate with me and are subjects I’ve covered in my freelance writing blog .?
  • Some of the freelance rate discussions are the most beneficial as they try to educate this community on how to know your worth.

The Best of Both Worlds Podcast

One podcast that I’ve listened to for about three years, is co-hosted by someone I personally know from articles I have written, time-management expert and author, Laura Vanderkam.

Two things I love about this one are:

  • Vanderkam has a toddler about the same age as my oldest so it’s comforting to hear her discuss parenting challenges that I was going through (like working on no sleep!).?
  • Co-host, Sarah Hart-Unger, balances many jobs as a practicing physician, mom to three young kids, and a blogger, among other things. In the podcast, they explain that they do a lot of outsourcing so they can live balanced lives. I enjoy hearing about other featured women’s careers, how they manage their home lives–like addressing meals and household tasks, as well as the reader questions at the end. (Don’t we all just love reader questions?!)

HerMoney with Jean Chatzky Podcast

Personal finance expert Jean Chatzky is another woman I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years.?

My favorite things about this podcast include:?

  • She educates female listeners on personal finance matters and conducts interviews with successful women. I especially like the shows that offer a peek behind the curtain into different careers.?
  • Chatzky and her producer also address reader questions and provide personal finance tips in the final “Thrive” segment. I get inspired to check out my bank accounts and investments after listening to these.

Read this blog for additional suggestions of podcasts that freelancers should listen to.
