Hello LinkedIn world. I hope you enjoy my weekly insights on things I work on. I wanted to share just a bit more on my 2018 with a roundup of the top 5 things I worked on. Enjoy:
5. Sports Connections - From the partnership with the NY Jets to developing connections with sports culture outlets (i.e. Bleacher Report, Cycle, Barstool, Players Tribune, etc) and teams (Roma, Clemson, Barca, Vikings, Rams, etc), I definitely found a new passion of mine in 2018: Bridging the gap between music and sports. There are pros that do this already, like Brian Nolan over at Capitol Records, and I'd like to continue to pursue this lane well in to 2019 & beyond.
4. New Artists to Watch - With the help of partners like All Def Media, YouTube, Vevo, Triller, and so many more we were able to make great strides on a number of artists in 2018. Artists like DaniLeigh, Valee and YK Osiris are on the cusp of breaking, while we have newcomers like TJ Porter, 12 HONCHO and Bobby Sessions (among many, many others) on deck. As I always say, getting the top tier looks for major artists is cool, but it feels amazing to be able to help a developing artist progress in his/her career. MUCH more to come in 2019
3. Vince Staples GoFundMe Breaks the internet - We had assembled a three page list of potential ideas for Vince to launch his single "GTFOMD" at the top of the year, but one idea I came up with was the only thing we needed to own the internet - his GoFundMe tease campaign (google it). "Genius" and "Brilliant" were words that were associated with the marketing ploy by respected publications. Props to Vince for embracing it and seeing it through - without his unique humor, it wouldn't have worked.
2. Alessia Cara's VEVO X Launch - All credit to Alessia Cara and Vevo on this one, but I was glad to have connected the dots, initiated the conversations and led the way for both parties to drop 9 pieces of breathtaking content. Head over to YouTube to watch all pieces today. Alessia has a crazy 2019 ahead...
1. GOOD June - I survived the GOOD Music Summer 2018 blitz of 5 albums in 5 weeks: Pusha-T's DAYTONA, Kanye West's Ye, KIDS SEE GHOSTS, Teyana Taylor's KTSE and Nas' Nasir. While each album was critically received in different ways, it was a time I will never forget.
