Top 5 In-Demand Programming Languages to Learn in 2023

This year, there will be some demand for specific programming languages in tech job openings due to the advancement of technology. This article will discuss some in-demand programming languages in 2023.

Despite the massive tech layoffs last year, the demand for tech workers doesn’t recede. Tech job openings are still around, according to Business Insider, even though they are not in the tech industry. Insider added that data science, Web3, and AI are the most in–demand tech skills at non–tech companies.

That being said, if you want to switch careers in 2023, it’s not too late to learn all the basics in the tech industry. To make your resume stand out, you should learn the most in–demand programming language.

This month, Coding Dojo posted its findings about the top ten programming languages in 2023. They determine the list by combing out the job listings that include each of the top 20 languages listed. Then they finally decide on the 10 languages with the most job openings. This article will only discuss the top 5: Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, and C.

Python

Python was the fourth most popular programming language in 2022, according to Statista. However, it climbed to first place because of its versatility and easy–to–use language. A lot of non–tech professionals use Python to automate daily tasks and processes, for example data visualization and analysis. If you’re looking for more opportunities, learning Python will be beneficial for you.

SQL

Structured Query Language, or SQL, is a programming language that is commonly used in creating and maintaining a company’s database that is stored in tables, columns, and rows. Codedamn added further that using SQL is essential for managing a huge amount of data and helping developers to build a solid foundation.

Java

If Python is popular for its versatility, Java is famous for its speed. It has been around for some time and, according to Coursera, it’s one of the most popular languages among web developers. Java is an object-oriented language and is easy to run on all platforms. Additionally, its simple and straightforward syntax makes it easy to learn for beginner coders.

JavaScript

Although they share a similar name, Java and JavaScript are different languages. In 2023, according to Forbes, JavaScript will still be renowned due to its functionality and adaptability to any type of project. Such a JavaScript feature makes it widely used in a wide variation of websites and applications, and they will have no problem being viewed from any device.

C

The C programming language will still be relevant in 2023, simply because a lot of more modern programming languages are based on it. Learning C, how2lab stated, will help a beginner learn any prevalent programming language with ease. Moreover, the C language, said My Great Learning, offers knowledge of both high- and low-level languages because it has characteristics of both.
