Top 5 Excuses Restaurants Make for their Failing Concept

Top 5 Excuses Restaurants Make for their Failing Concept

Struggling restaurant owners say to themselves,

“My restaurant is struggling because...”

  1. “We have a bad location.”
  2. “We are struggling with finding and keeping good staff.”
  3. “Consumers are cheap and just don’t understand my concept / want to pay for good food.”
  4. “I don’t have money for marketing.”
  5. “There’s too much competition.”

But those aren’t the real problems. Those are only symptoms of a greater problem.

There’s one thing that can improve all of those symptoms, reducing them or making them go away entirely.

Restaurants That Thrive

Let me ask you this...

  • How is it that other restaurants can thrive despite a “bad location?”
  • How can other restaurants seem to find and keep good staff?
  • There are restaurants out there that charge premium prices and people are happy to pay for it.
  • Some restaurants spend very little on marketing/advertising yet are still wildly profitable.
  • There are other restaurants that have tons of competitors, but still stand out and thrive.

How are these restaurants able to do this?

I believe that these restaurants understand one important thing.

They live and operate by specific and authentic core values as a company, they have an engaging team culture and staff are excited to work there, they are able to show the value of what they have to offer and customers literally eat it up, their competition doesn’t stand a chance against them because they have positioned themselves so well within their market, and their customer loyalty is so great.

What do these elite restaurants have in common?

What is their secret ingredient?

A purposeful and profitable brand strategy.
