Internship

An internship is a valuable opportunity for college students to gain practical work experience in their chosen field, develop professional skills, and network with industry professionals. Many students now take internships for experience as preparation for a new job role. Hiring a graduate with internship experience can bring several benefits such as time management, work-life balance, teamwork, cooperation, and a goal to accomplish projects in an organization.

Grades

Apart from evaluating a fresh graduate's internship experience, there are limited options for assessing their competence and relying on their academic grades. You don’t have to set very high standards and only look at the quantitative figures. Maybe your candidate didn’t have a very high grade but should have an above average. This can give you the impression that he or she might be a generalist and has the potential.

Fixing ingrained attitudes and behaviors

Most fresh graduates have high ambitions of quickly attaining high-paying jobs and prestigious positions, which can result in unrealistic expectations. Hard skills can be taught; it’s important to know if the candidates can work well in the office.

Freshers can be hired on comparatively lower salaries as opposed to experienced candidates. At the same time, you have to know that many fresh graduates may not last in a company forever. These people always want to move on to bigger and better things. Therefore, companies can create an environment where fresher employees feel valued, supported, and motivated to commit to the company for the long term.

Fresh graduates also bring many advantages that more experienced applicants cannot provide. From their willingness to adapt to their drive and passion for learning to their modern and positive attitude, fresh graduates make perfect additions to the workplace. The only thing is that we need to train them, retain talent, and manage them.
