It’s great when you finally overcome that fear of showing your face. Now here comes the next question -- how should you record?
Below are some common mistakes you can avoid when recording a video. These are really basic but we still ignore.
1. Holding a camera without a tripod.
While it’s okay to use your hands when recording, it’s still best to use a tripod. Whether you have a steady hand or not, it’s better to be safe than sorry. A shaky video is hard to edit and will consume a lot of time.
2. Shooting in the wrong frame.
Before recording a video, make sure to check your background first. Do you have messy things around? Are you at the center of the video? Is your camera standing firm or at the wrong angle? These are some things you have to check.
3. Recording with a noisy background.
This is a big NO! Always check the noise of your environment. Are there dogs barking? Maybe there are many vehicles passing by. Or the wind is too strong or too much. I must admit that I committed this mistake with my first few videos. The venue was great but the people were noisy.
4. Having bad lighting.
Sunlight is your free lighting. Make sure to use it to your advantage. If it’s not too bright, face the sun while recording. Don’t put the camera against the sun unless you’re trying to capture a silhouette.
5. Trying to talk too much without getting to the point.
Always remember that people’s attention span is really, really short. Make sure to say the right words. Give value from the very beginning. Making it engaging as well. That’s why it’s important to prepare your script or create an outline first before recording. Not only will you make the video shorter, it will be easier to edit.
Here’s a rule of thumb -- record it right from the very beginning. Do not rely too much on editing.
In health, we have a saying that “prevention is better than cure” Well, the same thing applies to filming or recording videos.
Oh … and one more thing.
Don’t forget to ---> HAVE FUN AND ENJOY! (This is not a mistake, by the way.) ;)

4 年"Record it right from the very beginning. Do not rely too much on editing." Initially record a nice video clip, even when there are editing tools it is always better to have a good back-up, that is a nice recorded video. Nice article.
