Top 5 Cloud Computing Services used in 2020
When you say cloud computing in 2021, twenty plus cloud services, at least 5 plus name of cloud service provider comes in mind but we need to know 5 Used Cloud Computing Services in 2020 so, here we go!
1: Compute, almost no common name across all cloud providers, you may call this EC2, Virtual Machine, Compute Engine etc. but most used services across any cloud providers.
2. Database (Relational/SQL Database/NoSQL Database): This include database like RDS, Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, NoSQL Database like (DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, Table Storage, Cloud Bitable, Cloud Datastore etc.).
3. Storage: Storage in cloud computing is like Agricultural Land for formers ??. The commonly used storage in 2020, any object storage like (S3, Blob storage, Cloud storage etc.), Block storage( EBS, Virtual Disk, Persistent Disk etc.).
4. Content Delivery Network (CDN): I think this would jump in top three by end of 2025.
5. Backup Services: Although I mentioned storage on top but you must be clear that why I mentioned backup again as there are lot more cloud services like serverless computing ( Lamda, Functions, Cloud Functions), IoT, Containers ( ECS, EKS, AKS, Container Instances, Kubernetes Engine) and many more.
Many companies use object storage/cold storage as a part of their backup strategies due to pricing and I hope they are practicing for non-critical applications.
In India, a general prices are backup INR 9-11 per GB, block storage INR 8-10, bandwidth INR 8-11, compute ( 1 GB RAM & 1 VCPU) ~ INR 1000 and when you run a cloud server by putting all together (compute, block storage, backup, network) then you are highjacked.
