The moment Halloween gets over, one looks forward to Christmas eagerly. From counting down days to relishing the Christmas vibes in the air, you want to enjoy every moment. Everyone has their own way of celebrating the winter holidays. Some people like to see the first snow and enjoy skiing, while others would just want to visit home and have a warm mug of eggnog by the campfire.
For people who have a job from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., it’s their chance to catch up on the movies they missed out on. Whereas bookworms utilize their vacations in catching up with books they yearned to read all along. The list may probably comprise several Christmas books given the upcoming occasion naturally.
Sure, their book list will last longer than the winter holidays; however, they’d rather cross out as many books as they can within these days. So now, asking a bookworm to recommend their favourite is like asking them to find a needle in a haystack. You’ll get an answer for sure, but it might take them forever.
Chances are they’ll recommend the most recent book they came across. If not, the most logical way to go about this conversation would be to ask if they have a favourite genre in particular.
All in all, bookworms would unanimously agree that Christmas books enliven the spirit of Christmas. So how about we let you know which Christmas books you ought to explore this time around?
Option 1: How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
Let’s start off with a holiday classic. Penned by none other than Dr Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a perfect addition to your kids’ library. This humour-filled, entertaining piece of fiction will not let you get bored for even a minute. To say this book has been a part of every child’s childhood would not be wrong.
If it hasn’t been a part of yours, it’s never too late to give it a go. We’re sure you’ll thoroughly enjoy the plotting and planning of the supposedly evil Grinch. Many believe this short story is one of the finest works of Dr Seuss.
To give you a bit of a premise, the story is about a 53-year-old Grinch who lives in a cave. He’s a grumpy old soul who hates the noisy neighborhood of Whoville. While the town prepares for Christmas, Grinch brews a sinister idea that involves robbing the people’s joy. He goes out of his way to hatch his plan, but the question is will he be able to succeed? And even if he does, will he be truly at peace with what he did? To know how the tables turn during Christmas at Whoville, you’ll have to give this book a read!
Option 2: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
This book recommendation goes out to all our young adult readers who are into fantasy. C.S Lewis paved the path for numerous fantasy books that came out later on. His writing has the power to teleport every reader into a magical fantasy land like no other. In addition, the mystery surrounding the leads of the story keeps you gripped to the edge of your seat.
Lewis provides the finest escape from reality by dabbling into mythical creatures and prophecies. Once you start reading this book, you cannot put it down until the end. The book was published in the 1950s and yet is still considered one of the best-written fantasy novels.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a story about the Pevensie siblings. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are seemingly ordinary children who escape from war-torn London during WWII. Although they make it safely to the countryside, an extraordinary adventure awaits them. Courtesy of the youngest sibling’s curiosity, Lucy.
Lucy stumbles upon the portal to Narnia after discovering it through a wardrobe. So, this Christmas, venture into Narnia and meet flora and fauna of a different dimension. Although, we’d like to warn you not to accept any Turkish Delight from a witchy old lady though.
Option 3: Little Women

From the extensive and ingenious library of Louisa May Alcott, we’d like to present a masterpiece, Little Women. A good phrase to describe this book would be “ahead of its time.” Alcott presented the story of a beautiful family we had the pleasure of meeting. The book covers various themes like family, love, responsibilities, and most importantly, the thirst to prove oneself.
The story follows the journey of four girls from their childhood to adulthood as each chooses their own future. Our leading lady Jo is a radical tomboy who’s an aspiring writer and wants to make a name for herself through her writing. Meg is the most beautiful one amongst her siblings and wants to settle down with the right man. Beth is loving, and she supports her sisters through her words of encouragement. Finally, Amy is the youngest and brightest when times get tough.
Throughout the book, you’ll fall in love with each character or, at times, question their decisions. However, you’ll adore this book from the start till the very end. So, get yourself a box of tissues because this one’s going to be a rollercoaster of emotions.
Option 4: Christmas Shopaholic
Now, we know the holidays are supposed to be all cheerful, so here’s a Christmas book that’ll make you grin from ear to ear. Dive into the world of a shopaholic, Becky Brandon née Bloomwood, who believes shopping is the cure for nearly everything.
Becky’s antics invite a bunch of trouble, particularly as a result of her not-so-healthy shopping habits. But she never shies away from a challenge. So, what if her parents ask her to host the Christmas dinner this year? From catering to her sister’s demands to the four-year-old Minnie, surely, Becky’s got everything under control. Right? Or so you think.
However, when an old flame pays Becky an unexpected visit, will Becky be able to pull off being the perfect host? Will she be able to juggle through the holidays without losing her mind? (Why would any sane person in the world even like craft beer?!)
Well, we won’t spoil the book for you now, would we? That’d defeat the entire purpose! But with the help of Becky’s family, friends, and her darling husband Luke, who never gets tired of her, get to know how she’ll save the day. So, read this heart-warming and entertaining chick-lit during this festive season to give you all the fuzzy feels.
