Hello Readers,
AWS has captured a whopping 51% of the total cloud computing service providers, and their competitors include GCP, Azure, IBM, and many more.
Top companies who use AWS Cloud:
- Adobe
- Airbnb
- Slack
- Netflix
- Coursera
If you are a student, studying in a university, then you might know that coursera is or was (depending upon when you read this article) offering free courses to students unless your schedule included "Wake up, have breakfast, watch Netflix, have lunch, Netflix, have dinner, Netflix).
All right, so ever imagined, the amount of traffic coursera would have recieved when they announced that they are giving away free courses with certificates, well no one has the exact figures, but it must be thrice the usual traffic. If Coursera was using their own architecture, they wouldn't have expected that there will be COVID-19, and there will be thrice or probably more, and so they would have to upgrade their architecture in a very urgent way and need more space and after COVID is over, that extra architecture would have been a probably a waste of money and time.
But Coursera didn't use its own architecture, but uses AWS, so they don't need to worry about having more architecture. So, let's take this example, I know it is absurd, but anyways:
There are a few guests coming at your place and will have dinner, but suddenly, you were expecting 5 guests from, but they show up with their children, their wives, their children and so you have to go and run to a grocery shop for some more ingredients for more dinner, it is exactly like having your own architecture. The other option is going to a restaurant, with the guests, and no matter how many guests show up, that's the restaurant's problem of getting more groceries, that's what cloud service providers like AWS.
They also needed to provide resource productive usage that is unused for other reasons. They used Amazon Elastic Container Services (ECS) to shift effortlessly toward design focused on micro services. They use Amazon EMR, Redshift, Cassandra, Amazon RDS and several third party applications to set up their cloud-based infrastructure.
Each job is generated as a container using ECS, and ESC schedules it in the EC2 example cluster. Amazon ECS also lets them do all the maintenance of the clusters.
Using AWS Cloud, they achieved resource accessibility, speed and agility, elastic capability, and operating efficiencies in their processes.
That's all from my end, see you next time, till that time, Bye!
