1) Update about "Top Ads"
"Top ads" showed by definition always above the top organic results, although now they can show below the top organic results on certain queries - dynamically.
In the image below on top you see that traditionally "Top Ads" were positioned at the top of each page set. The first Google Ad is considered the "Absolute Top Ad".
Now this definition of "Top Ads" has changed and "Top Ads" might not be at the "Top" anymore but can show below organic results.
2) Demand Gen campaigns get AI Tools
Demand Gen campaigns will get Generative AI Tools, just like Pmax campaigns and Search campaigns.
Roll out starts today and language is English only.
Images can be prompted directly in the Demand Gen campaign setup interface.
3) Pmax Audience Signal Exclusions not compatible anymore
Audience Signal Exclusions can't be used on Google Ads Pmax campaigns anymore.
Looks like previously saved signal exclusions won't work either.
Earlier on you could exclude people from your Pmax audience, for example purchasers.
Now, a new alert shows that exclusions won't work anymore. So make sure to use New customer acquisition bidding.
4) New Google Ads "Card" Search Ads
Looks like Google is rolling out more Google Ads "Card" shaped Search Ads in Europe!
Some of these Card Search Ads come with Image Extensions and some with Text assets. Could be a test for SGE ad layout to check CTRs.
Google has not stated anything official about this new Search Ad Format.
5) Google postponed Chrome 3rd Party Cookie Phase-out
Google postpones Google Chrome 3rd Party Cookies phase out to early 2025. The reasons are "ongoing challenges related to reconciling divergent feedback from the industry, regulators and developers, and will continue to engage closely with the entire ecosystem".
