Top 4 Books of 2017
I always appreciate it when others recommend good content for me to check out, so thought I'd share what I particularly liked this year. Top books I read in 2017 that you should check out are:
Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World - Adam Grant
Originals is about how to champion new ideas and fight groupthink.
Using surprising studies and stories spanning business, politics, sports, and entertainment, Grant explores how to recognize a good idea, speak up without getting silenced, build a coalition of allies, choose the right time to act, and manage fear and doubt; how parents and teachers can nurture originality in children; and how leaders can build cultures that welcome dissent.
Grit - Angela Duckworth
In this instant New York Times bestseller, pioneering psychologist Angela Duckworth shows anyone striving to succeed—be it parents, students, educators, athletes, or business people—that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a special blend of passion and persistence she calls “grit.”
High-Performance Habits - Brendon Burchard
THESE SIX HABITS WILL MAKE YOU EXTRAORDINARY.
After extensive original research and a decade as the world’s highest-paid performance coach, Brendon Burchard finally reveals the most effective habits for reaching long-term success. Based on one of the largest surveys ever conducted on high performers, it turns out that just six habits move the needle the most in helping you succeed. Adopt these six habits, and you win. Neglect them, and life is a never-ending struggle.
Divine Direction - Craig Groeschel
You're one decision away from changing your life forever! In Divine Direction author Craig Groeschel reveals biblical guidelines that will make your small and seemingly trivial choices add up to a life you never imagined. You'll learn how to stop doing what's holding you back, start new positive habits, stay committed, realize when you should let go, and more.

6 年7 Habits a long time ago. Yes, I've read High Performing Habits. It's great. I didn't love the Covey book simply because I'm all about application, and it felt a little dated to me. If I were recommending, I'd put down Covey, and pick this one up first. One of the big ideas for instance: Define what 5 things are the most important to your success. Strategically plan that these will be around 60% of your time (that's the magic number apparently as it means they're priority, but also think it allows you to admit there's other things you'll HAVE to do).

6 年I was very interested in the High Performing Habits book. I am reading through the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and was curious to see if there were any parallels. Tim, have you read either yet?

6 年Thanks to Johnny Quinn, U.S. Olympian for this idea (I totally stole it even though I didn't even tell you I was going to, so THANKS!) and Jan Ansell who actually recommended three out of these four to me!
