Top 3 Webinars, Articles and Product Features We Did in 2024. And More to Come ??
We’re halfway through 2024 and excited to share some of our favorite content pieces and major updates. These articles and webinars resonated with our readers, providing valuable insights for navigating the year’s challenges. Our developers have also introduced powerful product features to make software localization and internationalization more seamless than ever.
Let’s dive into the best of 2024 (so far)!
#Product features
Our engineering team has worked hard this year, delivering a bunch of new features to Globalyzer and Localyzer. Here are the top ones:
1. AI in Globalyzer and Localyzer: Enhanced i18n Detection, Fixing, and?UI String Translation
Globalyzer now leverages advanced AI capabilities that bring a lot of benefits to developers:
Localyzer now also uses AI. In addition to multiple MT engines, you can now easily integrate ChatGPT-4. This will allow you to immediately translate UI strings directly from software repositories.

2. Figma Design Testing?
Sometimes, a customer's specific request inspires us to develop a solution for everyone. This was one of those cases.
Introducing a new feature in the Localyzer Figma plugin that allows you to identify text expansion issues across all target languages without creating multiple design versions. With this feature, you can view all potential problems on a single screen, helping you catch layout issues early by previewing the longest string in each language.
3. String Manager?
Localization managers often struggle to communicate with developers in the process of translating strings. They have to exchange numerous files and feedback, which leads to increased costs, extended timelines, and delayed product releases.
We modernized Localyzer and added a String Manager to it. Now, this tool empowers both sides to:

1. Software Localization Strategies for 2024
This is our most-viewed webinar on YouTube, and it's easy to see why. What do we love about it? Paula Hunter and Oleks Pysaryuk shared a wealth of wisdom through their insights and personal experiences.
The range of topics covered was extensive. They addressed the communication gap with developers, setting goals for your team, and fostering a lifelong learning mindset. Most importantly, all this advice, like a fine wine??, only gets better with age.
Our favourite quotes:
"Use the tricks, use the language. Sometimes I said caching instead of translation memory and it made sense to engineers so these little tactics of communicating help." - Oleks Pysaryuk
"Understanding what motivates developers is key; they thrive on creativity and problem-solving. When you present them with a challenge and show how their work directly benefits customers, it excites them and fosters collaboration." -??Paula Hunter
What I found has worked really well is for the team to develop together an annual set of goals and objectives and then break those down into SMART goals for each team member. And … align with the corporate strategy. That will help you demonstrate THE WHY of localization investment." -??Paula Hunter

2. How to Effectively Manage Software Strings for Seamless Localization
Geneviève Bolduc, a Localization Manager from Avigilon, shares how they effectively manage a large portfolio of products across 23 languages with a small team of six people.
She discusses how her team tackles the challenges of translating strings, especially during the design phase, and the methods they use to catch potential issues early. It’s a great way to learn practical strategies especially for localization professionals in software companies.
Our favourite quotes:
"The best bug is a prevented bug".
"Strings are so important because they're going to be how our users understand our product. As much as possible, we want to prevent bad strings."
"We try to really spread the good word about localization best practices... we have members of our team who go in and evangelize about all of these things that can be prevented at a certain stage."
3. Navigating i18n Costs: Best Practices for Initial and Advanced Stages
Our latest edition would be interesting for any software expanding globally. If you're involved in software development or planning to take your product international, this is a must-watch. Here are a few reasons why:

Do you know what pseudo-localization involves or how to estimate the costs of I18n? Want to learn how top software industry giants localize their products? Here are some articles providing a wealth of detailed and comprehensive information.
1. Pseudo-Localization and Its Role in Localization Testing
One unobvious yet powerful localization strategy can greatly enhance your localization testing efforts.
With its help, you can identify embedded and hardcoded strings, find concatenation problems, locate UI layout issues due to text expansion, and detect character encoding issues.

2. Localization Examples: 6 Successes and 2 Failures
Some companies succeed in their localization efforts, while others do not. However, it’s always beneficial to learn from others' experiences. We have selected the most prominent localization victories and mistakes:
Airbnb, Workday, Playrix, Roblox, Uber, Coca-Cola, HSBC Bank, and Nintendo.
Good localization can elevate even a small company to the next level of success. Failed localization can ruin a great company’s reputation. Find out more about each localization case here.
3. What Is the Real Cost of i18n?
Software internationalization is expensive, daunting, and time-consuming. Have you ever thought like this? It is, indeed, if you’re fixing i18n bugs after the software development is complete.
But with the right process, you can reduce i18n costs by up to 93%!?
We reveal a real-life use-case where our customer is projected to cut localization time and developers’ labor costs by over 90%.
If you want to save as much as our client, read about this case here.
