Top 3 Reasons DemoCamp is (still) our most enduring event

DemoCamp is moving online for the third time in a row, but that’s about the only thing that’s changed in the 13 years of running this event.

Since 2008, DemoCamp has brought together thousands of developers, entrepreneurs, students and investors and has steadily grown to become the largest in the country.

Although we can’t physically gather due to COVID-19, the heart and soul of DemoCamp remains. It’s all about giving our amazing product builders some time to shine, and all of you a chance to connect — albeit virtually this time around.

The rules are simple: 7 minutes to demo — all product, no slides — and business model questions must wait until we log in for (virtual!) drinks. (You don’t need to get a beer; pop is totally acceptable!)

Here are our top three reasons why DemoCamp is our most enduring event:

  1. Sharing is caring! DemoCamp isn't about being polished or perfect; it's about the joy of sharing something really awesome that you built from scratch with other people who understand the challenges and complexities of the work. Not from a technical background? Come tune in anyways! You get an insider’s look at the latest tech coming out of Edmonton and Calgary. Not to mention listening to people overcome challenges is incredibly inspiring. (And who doesn’t need that atm?)
  2. This isn’t Dragon’s DenAt DemoCamp it’s about what you build and how you built it. We don’t care if it makes any money — we’re here to celebrate the process of creating a product, project or update. That’s why we encourage everyone to save business model questions for later.
  3. It's the best place to hear about startup and scaleup jobs (even before they go up on our Job Board.) If you're hiring — come on out and just stand up when we make the call for announcements. If you're looking for work — come ready to meet new people and don't be shy about your skills.

For DemoCamp 51, we’re partnering with Platform Calgary & Startup Calgary to showcase six amazing demos from post-secondary students in two of Alberta’s major cities. Come and see what these students have built at hackathons, for their classes, and for their companies.

We can't wait to see you Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 6:30pm!
