Top 3 new features from F8 2016
Here are my top 3 of my favourite new features from F8 2016
1. Messenger Bots
Facebook opened up Messenger Platform bots to all businesses this week, allowing all developers to explore the endless ways we communicate with our users in new and unexpected ways.
"Bots can provide anything from automated subscription content like weather and traffic updates, to customized communications like receipts, shipping notifications, and live automated messages all by interacting directly with the people who want to get them." FB Newsroom
2. Live Video Discovery
Live Video became available to the average Joe on the 6th of April. Most of us were left wondering how this will make our content strategy better knowing that Facebook will favour it on users timeline. Facebook has released best practices to help a marketer out.
The forceful push of Live Video can be attributed to two things
- The decline in original content (as reported by The information), especially in the under 30 demographic.
- One word: Snapchat.
"A Video tab is taking over Messenger’s prime, center spot in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, turning Facebook into a destination for discovering videos categorized by topic beyond stumbling across them in the feed." TechCrunch
Above and beyond that you can now explore global Live Video Map here. (I am quite a fan)
3. 'Save' Button
This is a gem, similar to the Pocket app, is now open for use and allows users to save things they find across the Web.
The Save Button leverages what’s already good about Save to Facebook, but brings it to the entire Web. It’s like taking a little piece of Facebook with you everywhere you go, digitally speaking.
Facebook is launching the Save Button with Overstock and Product Hunt, as well as being available for developers to toy with.
Over to you!
I have left out a ton of other exciting features, let me know which ones tickle your fancy.
