TOP 3 MISTAKES companies make after receiving personal branding training.

After May got some of her biggest clients through her accidental social media presence, she decided to get more intentional with it and help her leaders team do the same.

She found a great coach to help them do this. The training was beyond their expectations. The excitement was palpable and he made this huge task ahead of them look easy, fun, and doable. Which was the opposite of May's personal experience.

The growth of her online presence and community wasn't by design. She was just sharing her thoughts on current topics, throwing in a motivational piece on Monday, and sharing what she was working on. For some reason she couldn't fathom, people thought she was interesting and even a couple turned into clients.

Now she wanted to find out how to get more clients online,

How to get clients more predictably and consistently, and also

How to recruit her company leaders so they could collectively achieve more.

ENTER THE POWERFUL TRAINING SESSION.

In just 3 hours, they had a blueprint they could use to help the leaders who did not have an online presence get started, they had a brand message to help keep their content consistent, and they agreed on when to start.

The first month went great. Brand photoshoots, content on socials, a few enquiries and then...

The initial high energy and excitement within the team started dwindling,

The realities of effort needed to keep showing up started dawning,

Keeping up with the coming enquiries, requests for meetings, plus work responsibilities became tough,

Soon, the team started losing their momentum.

WHAT WENT WRONG?

  1. NEGLECTING THE POWER OF PERSONAL MOTIVATION.The leaders were excited with the potential results they could get for the company and they got a great plan to start, but they never took the time to find out why this was important for them personally.Enter what's popularly referred to as "Your WHY""Why does this matter to you? What does doing this mean for you career? What will change because you built an online presence as an expert?" Building an online presence that converts takes time, effort, consistency in order to build an audience that trusts you and views you as THE expert that will help them. And you will need to tap into your why, every second of every minute, to keep going until you get to that level.
  2. USING A ONE-SIZE FITS ALL STRATEGY. Every individual has their personal strengths , weaknesses, and hang-ups. Some find it easier to communicate through text, others video, others prefer not to have their faces on social media. Others prefer meeting individuals one on one, others prefer speaking to a group and getting the meetings out of their way. A one-size fits all strategy will kill your leaders motivation because they are not operating at ease using a strategy they love, enjoy, and can keep up long-term.
  3. NOT MEASURING ROI. To remove the ambiguity of efforts and to help focus actions on what will drive results, it's important to have a strategy that includes measuring ROI. How do you know you have increased your brand's awareness if you don't know what it was before and what it is after starting? How do you know it is actually your efforts that are generating demand for your services? Are you tracking your leads? How do you know what works and what doesn't? What to improve or ditch totally if you don't measure the effect of your work? Are you social listening to get your brand's public perception?

For Personal Branding to be a strategic revenue-generating operation in your company, your focus should intentionally focus on authenticity, quality, alignment with company values, consistency, support, and continuous improvement.
