Top 3 Gmail Hacks to Save Your Sanity
Did you know that U.S. workers spend an average of 20 hours per week checking email? That's half your work week.
Crazy!?
It's safe to say emails and meetings are pretty much taking over our lives.
But...
Can we fight back?
Here's how to tame the email inbox, double your productivity, and save your sanity...
Unroll.Me
Let's face it, half our time in the inbox is just spent deleting emails. That sale at Macy's. The hundreds of newsletters you don't even remember signing up for. And let's not forget the occasional spam that gets through all those filters.
No matter how much we try to keep things organized, the inbox always turns into a mess.
Kind of like our desks. You have to keep cleaning them. Otherwise, things just get out of hand.
Fortunately, there's a super simple tool that allows you to clean up your inbox in 5 minutes or less. It's called Unroll.me. It will show you all of your subscriptions and allow you to unsubscribe from them in a single click.
Or you can pick and choose which one's you want to throw into the fire.
Or you can do what's called a "Rollup". Combining your favorite emails into one daily digest email.
My sanity is now intact.
But it get's better...
Batched Inbox.
Do you ever find yourself compulsively checking email every 15 minutes?
I have to admit I've been guilty of this. Like an addict looking for a high. The inbox can be more addicting than we realize.
But there's a simple solution...
It's called Batched Inbox.
An app that will only deliver your emails at specific times of the day.
Instead of letting the inbox distract you all day long.
I think this is bloody brilliant. Because the truth of the matter is I don't have the willpower to only check my email 2 or 3 times a day.
It would be like going without coffee. I'm just not that strong.
But with Batched Inbox, it automates the process. So even if I "sneak a peek", no new emails will be there. You'll only receive emails (in batches) at set times of the day.

Canned Responses.
One of my favorite little features inside of Gmail is called "Canned Responses". Basically email templates that you can reuse later. With the click of a button you can pre-load one of your templates, tweak it with a few customization's, and click send!
So if you find yourself sending the same email over and over to clients, customers, or coworkers - save it as a template.
Over time, as you start creating more and more pre-written templates, you'll be surprised just how much time you save.
So there you go!
Three simple tips to save your sanity, tame the beast, and amaze your coworkers.
Inbox zero isn't an urban legend after all!
At least not until tomorrow. When the inbox fills up again :)
