Top 3 fallacies in Skincare
Are your cosmetic products lying to you?
Only a few people have the time or the cognitive surplus to dive deep into labels and ingredients research,?to validate the claims of the products they have purchased.
Awareness of the top fallacies in skin care products will help you make better choices.
#1. Moisturiser is not Anti-Age
A moisturiser is a staple product in skincare and for a good reason. You might use one that feels and smells nice, might be fun to use and delivers moisture on your skin so it can look and feel good.?
However, it does nothing against Free Radical Oxidation or Sun Damage, the main reasons for premature ageing.?
I compare moisturiser with comfort food, like pasta, french fries or oatmeal, you can survive on this food and might even enjoy it, but it would not add high nutritional value to your system.
"The classics", on the other hand, aka Vaseline and mineral oil, are also moisturisers, but that would be your traditional Mac and cheese.
#2. No natural oil contains Vitamin C
Aronia & A?ai berry, Sea Buckthorn & Rosehip, and an array of citrus oils, to name just a few. ?
In every Google search, the first thing that comes up is these natural oils' high vitamin C levels.
On some pages, they have even given percentages of up to 88% of vitamin C content.
(Wow!)
They are even references at the bottom of the page, so we check for ourselves only… we rarely do!
If we did check, those references would take us to studies concerning raw fruits, their juices, other Water-soluble extracts, etc., anything but the slightest scientific proof that any natural oil in this rotating earth contains any significant amount of vitamin C.?
The reason is that vitamin C is a water-soluble substance that cannot be found in oils.?
Do not fret if your expensive A?ai oil doesn't have any vitamin C. Natural oils can still be excellent for the skin.?
As long as they are cold-pressed, unfiltered and unrefined, they will be packed with precious Antioxidants and a plethora of nutrients that can benefit the skin remarkably.?

#3. No Collagen product can replenish your skin's Collagen?
Collagen is a macromolecular protein, which means it is too large to penetrate the upper layer of the skin?(epidermis), let alone penetrate deeply into the dermis where our collagen depots are.
And even if it could?(due to a formulator's Magic delivery system), it would still need to figure out where to go.?
To help you understand the process, imagine you have a wall of tiles with some gaps in the "grout joints" you want to fill up.?
You go to the store, and they give you a magic product, aka glue, and direct you to throw it directly on the wall from some distance.?
Then, they claim, you should expect the glue can find its way nicely and neatly inside the "grout joints" to fill the gaps.?
(Sigh!)
Does that mean that Collagen is useless in skincare?
No! It is a good ingredient but for other reasons.
It is a conditioning ingredient with film-forming properties that could be useful in a suitable formulation.?
However, I wouldn't buy an expensive product to "replenish" some lost Collagen because it simply cannot deliver.?
So how to boost our Collagen topically?
I would opt for a good PRE-Collagen product that stimulates the skin's collagen production.?
So what is your anti-age skin regime?
