I know everyone is bashing 2020 .. and yeah... it is more than deserved, but at the same time ... easy. But if you really want to reflect ... tell me what 2020 gave you. Give me 20 reasons why you're better. And if you want to double down on this challenge - give me 20 more - so 20 20 me. To start, here are my first 20:
- Sourdough - Holy ... this shit .. done right, is heaven - really ... to think that water, flour and salt alone can do THIS!!!
- Appreciation - Over everything I have been given - knowing that it is more than enough
- Moreale - Yeah, crazy me decided to start his own company at the beginning of COVID - genius move, sir - why, thank you
- Yoga - Okay, a bit of a cheat here, but I did continue to pursue its blessing all thru the year
- AllRecipes.com - Hot Damn! - I think I am the next Ramsey ... because of this site - check out this puppy and only go with the 4.5+ recipes
- Beethoven - on the 250th anniversary of his birth - I've reacquainted myself with his music, but really discovered the unfathomable level of his brilliance. This man is a true genius. Scratch the surface and find out
- Canning - Chasing the umami of my youth, provided by my grandmother - I have started canning dill beans - I have re-genesis'ed my grandmother's recipe from watching her over many summers make these - this is a gift to any Caesar you will ever make..!!
- Walking - Sometimes just doing this simple thing of putting one foot in front of the other - to propel yourself forward. To get out for a walk was always a joy that was amplified when you could do it with friends
- Local - Here Here Here - this is what matters to us - we learned that it is most important to realize that we are significantly impacted by those around us
- Parks - Ahh... to share a chat and a sneaky brew with a friend or two in a park is.. most delightful too, says both me and you
- BC - Okay... Canada - not to brag - but this province is f'n incredible in its spectacular, stunning beauty - Crazy stuff like we have snow-capped mountains that crash into oceans... but your all great too. Loved spending more time here
- Friends - Who is not more appreciative of their friends? ... Who doesn't want more of them.. so much more
- Hugs - I appreciated them before. I have now named them an essential food group - Group 5 - 'contact' - with Hugs as the best choice to get your daily requirement - the current recommendation is 2.5 hugs/day.
- Hands - Shaking, holding, High Fiving, Slapping, Fist-bumping - it doesn't matter - bumping elbows --> Sucks
- Sharing - Knowing that you can gain by giving is a most powerful gift - that keeps surprising you with its karma warmth
- Community - Connecting the 'me' to the 'we' really completes you - knowing that we need to support each other and push our empathy skills a wee bit harder - makes us all better humans.
- Family - Losing, being distanced from, connecting with... My new appreciation of kin is akin to my appreciation of this life.
- Tradition - When we all re-created from our 'family' traditions in the absence of our families, made us aware of what truly resonated with us and clarified our connection to our past, to our traditions.
- Travel - As much as 'here' is great - 'over-there' is sexy - so want to go ... 'over there'
- Front Line Workers - My mom was a nurse. A true Florence Nightingale - with everyone she met. These folks are wired to care, to help, to heal. I have a special place in my heart for nurses especially, but 2020 gave me an even greater appreciation - and of this, I am most thankful
Over to you, my friends. I would appreciate your perspectives.

4 年At first I thought, 20 things? In 2020 no less? Martin IS crazy but now he’s grasping ... however, your list was inspiring and reflective. And I appreciate that about you friend (that’s 2 things you listed that I also value). Pickled beans is another. Add homemade horseradish to your Ceasar and now I’m impressed. #peaceout2020
