Top 10 Reasons Why The Collective is NOT Like Other Women's Groups

We get it.

You've joined Women's groups before and they didn't really deliver on their promises. You've joined networking groups before and they gave you the 'ick'. You've joined professional development programs before only to get lost in the crowd. That won't happen here. Here are the Top 10 Reasons Why The Collective is NOT Like Other Women's Groups

1) The women who run it are actually IN the group

For anyone who has joined a group, felt lost or reached out to the person who was promoting the group only to hear crickets, yeah, that isn’t going to be happening here. I am in the group every day, answering your DMs, showing up to office hours and teaching you the skills we talk about, and advocate for. I am all in. I also have other coaches who help support me in this group with their own amazing skills in career coaching that they bring to the table.

2) We are off social media! Moms at Work uses a custom app that looks and works like FB BUT without the ads, noise and horrible people. If we want people to be more slow and intentional, kind and supportive, we have to have the tech to match. No free FB or Slack groups here - we pay so you get a solid platform that works for us.

3) We hang out in ways that feel good to us Powersuits -

Standing around quietly, meeting one person, then heading home -

Listening to 6 panels but not getting to connect -

Whether it is connecting online or in person, we are casual. Pub nights, coffee walks, beach BBQs, and picnics in the park. We are done with “professional”. If we want to be ourselves at work, we have to be ourselves as we grow our careers with others.

4) We will always be small

There will never be a time when The Collective will be 3000 people. It wasn’t designed for that! We want to get to know you, and what you need and be there to help you. We want you to ACTUALLY meet people and connect. We want you to feel comfortable asking for help and being open and vulnerable in this space. You can't do that with 3000 people. We cap The Collective at 350 and that has been our sweet balance between having a group large enough that we have diversity but small enough that everyone gets what they need from the community.

5) We were made for introverts

Networking or big groups are hard for neurodivergent folks, introverts, and people who just hate networking. The Moms at Work team is run by a team of folks who understand how hard it is to build meaningful connections. We made the space we wanted - a mix of different types of events, small group masterminds, small office hours to ask questions and in-person events that feel welcoming and cozy. You get to decide how and when you want to show up.

6) We started with kindness and will stay that way

Every single person who joins the Collective wants to help others. That in and of itself is magic. When we ask for help and support others, magic happens. Nothing transactional here - just growing a community of women who want the best for you.

7) The Collective is the only reason Moms at Work can do advocacy our way

A portion of the Collective fees goes directly into our advocacy fund. Our team is paid to push the envelope, develop free resources, and advocate for change in a way no other women’s group has ever done. Why? Because it is the reason we are here. We are the real deal and if you have wanted to be a part of the change, know that joining is creating changes you never thought possible.

8) It works

The Collective has existed for 3 years. In that time, we have helped with over 100 promotions, 5 million in salary increases, dozens of new companies launched, numerous new best friends, thousands of laughs and a network that people told us was impossible.

9) This is the hidden job market

In the past 3 years, we have had over 600 jobs shared on our platform. We have brought in hiring managers from dozens of companies and have created a web so powerful that Moms at Work Collective members exist in hundreds of companies.

10) Yes, you belong here

Teachers, nurses, the corporate world, entrepreneurs, marketers, accountants, unionized, government, and tech are all in the Collective.

Don’t know exactly what you want to do with your life but need help? Come on in!

We can help. The variety of positions and levels of employment are what make us strong and what makes us different. Yes, you could join a group specifically for your field, but that leaves you in such a small window of opportunities. Our power is in our diversity. You belong here.

The doors for this round of the Collective open on March 25th. Then we shut down registration until the Fall. But you've gotta be on the waitlist if you want in.
