Hi everybody! Welcome back to Simply Amazing English. As you probably know, we love to use phrasal verbs in English - we use them constantly and they’re a great way of enhancing your English. Today we’re going to look at our top ten phrasal verbs to use at work! Check them out below…
1. To go over: to review something // We should go over the report one more time before submitting it to make sure there are no mistakes.
2. To push back: to postpone // Can we push back that meeting? I’m really busy today.
3. To bring forward: to change the date or time of an event so it happens earlier than planned // The client brought the deadline forward by two weeks!
4. To run by: to tell someone about something so they can give their opinion // I have an idea about the project but I have to run it by my manager first.
5. To call off: to cancel // Many people couldn't come to the conference so they decided to call it off.
6. Get back to: contact again to give information or because you were not able to speak to them before // I’ll get back to you when I have the final result.
7. To come up with: to think of // We really need to come up with a solution, it’s urgent!
8. To sign off on: to approve // My team leader signed off on the changes to the schedule.
9. To take over: to take control // I took over the project when she resigned.
10. To carry out: to do or complete something // We are currently carrying out market research on the product.
