The Top 10 Most Ridiculous Product Feature Requests We've Received (And Why We Didn't Implement Them)

As a product manager, you've likely received some ridiculous feature requests from customers or stakeholders. While it's important to listen to customer feedback and take their needs into account, not all feature requests are created equal. Here are the top 10 most ridiculous product feature requests we've received (and why we didn't implement them).

  1. A "unicorn mode" that would turn the app into a game where you could ride unicorns: While this feature request sounds fun, it has nothing to do with the purpose of our app, which is a productivity tool.

2. A "scratch and sniff" feature that would allow users to smell different scents through their phone: While this feature might be interesting, it's not feasible with current technology and would add unnecessary complexity to our app.

3. A "mind reading" feature that would allow the app to anticipate users' needs before they even knew what they wanted: While this feature would be amazing, it's not possible with current technology and would require invasive data collection.

4. A "time travel" feature that would allow users to go back in time and change their decisions: While this feature is intriguing, it's not possible with current technology and goes beyond the scope of our app.

5. A "teleportation" feature that would allow users to instantly transport themselves to different locations: While this feature would be convenient, it's not possible with current technology and has nothing to do with our app's purpose.

6. A "mind control" feature that would allow users to control other people's thoughts and actions: While this feature is concerning from an ethical standpoint, it's not possible with current technology and goes beyond the scope of our app.

7. A "self-destruct" feature that would cause the app to explode after a certain amount of use: While this feature might be amusing, it's not safe or practical and has nothing to do with our app's purpose.

8. A "magic wand" feature that would allow users to magically solve any problem: While this feature is appealing, it's not possible with current technology and goes beyond the scope of our app.

9. A "telekinesis" feature that would allow users to move objects with their minds: While this feature is intriguing, it's not possible with current technology and has nothing to do with our app's purpose.

10. A "superhero" mode that would turn the user into a superhero with special powers: While this feature might be fun, it has nothing to do with our app's purpose and goes beyond the scope of what we can offer.

While some of these feature requests may seem ridiculous, they all have one thing in common: they don't align with our app's purpose or are not feasible with current technology. As a product manager, it's important to listen to customer feedback and take their needs into account, but it's also important to prioritize ruthlessly and focus on features that will provide the most value to your users while aligning with your product strategy.

Great and fun ideas. I laughed hard, thanks. Maybe you should try gamification? Users could have Superhero mode that encourages them to be more productive in-app. They can earn redeemable reward points. Maybe add more add-ons to the Superhero Mode plan? For "mind reading?" Predictive AI and great CS can help ;) A Time Travel feature could let users reset the tool to a specific time. Just my two cents. Thanks for the laugh ??
