The current 'social ecommerce' model is nothing but companies like Shein or Temu burning CAC dollars. I can see that perhaps some of the social platforms may want to extend functionality into ecommerce and maybe a connected checkout inside the app, but they will remain essentially ad-platforms for sellers, not the sellers themselves. Facebook has had years to monetize and fix Facebook Marketplace, but they haven't.
